I know, I'm just commenting in general. Most laws are passed now to protect or provide for the idiots. We are being dumbed down at an alarming rate.

Logic would say that where there are more guns you would have more gun shootings. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. That's like saying where there are more cars you'll have more car accidents. Or that where the people eat the most fast food, they will have the most health problems. Duh.

I live in Thailand, everyone rides scooters. Care to guess how many scooter accidents happen here every year? Lots. And I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that China would have more scooter accidents than anywhere else on earth based on the fact that they have more people and probably more scooters.

Yep ... The US government will allow you to own anything short of an attack fighter provided you do a background check and pay a yearly tax on the weapon. Machine guns, flame throwers, tracer rounds, etc can all be bought or rented by the hour at some gun shows. There's a famous one outside of Louisville that would scare most people to death.

At what point isn't it "within reason" anymore? And why?
Where do you draw the line? And why?

FletchXXX, should buying a bazooka be as easy as being a gun. Anywhere, at any time. Not just a gunshow. In general just as easy.
Or *any* other weapon for that matter.

Just answer it man. Let's get it over with.

Because I wrote you a nice post above which you basically ignored and others even pointed out went over your head. Ive addressed the issue and theres nothing to say. You seem bent on getting some sort of reaction or argument going that involves my personal opinion. Which I have yet to offer as I only deal with facts.

You wanted to know if bazookas should be legal and they already are so I moved on. You want to argue about things that I have no interest in talking about. And then when I dont debate you, you get all pissed off LOL

how many times do I need to say it, its not worth my time arguing about guns with people who dont even know what its like in this country, have never purchased a gun etc... i have no interest in changing your already solidifed opinion, nor do I even offer mine.

facts, all i deal with.

Fine, No.

I cant believe this guy actually contacted me to get off my ignore.

The reason I ignore him is because of things like the above.

He act like a child until you address his silly questions, then when you do, he keeps going and going and honestly, its simply not worth the time.

/ignore

I can only assume you're talking about Franck. I took him off twice and both times regretted it for exactly why you say. No matter what you say he goes on and on like a 5 year old trying to figure out why you won't let them jump on the bed.

Actually you could have less guns but more shooting if there are more people committing crimes or behaving like idiots.

America has always been a gun nation, always will. The only variable is the mental state of some of it's citizens.

The argument that guns are akin to cars is amazingly stupid.

Guns were designed for one purpose, to kill.

That is the reason people get up in arms about tightening up gun contorl. There is absolutely no good reason for people to need to own a gun.

As I have said before, I could not count one single person I know who owns a gun. Most of my family have never ever shot a gun or touched one for that matter.

Guns are completely useless in a civilised society.

but but but it's our right to freedom -

My family and EVERY ONE of my friends own guns. If we increase the total amount of guns someone will get shot? I don't think so. But if one of them develops mental problems or needs to commit crimes then and only then do things change.

Something is wrong with a person that premeditates a shooting.

You should give sport shooters, gun collectors, and gun investors the memo.

See post above. Not everyone owns a gun so they can kill people.

Indeed. But if you don't make guns so easy to get hold of, less people get shot.

Really simple maths.

I would defend to the death your right to think that having more guns in a country leads to less people being shot, despite me continually posting facts proving otherwise.

More people that have guns, more people get shot. The facts prove this, unarguably.

Want to reduce shootings? Reduce gun ownership.

This is REALLY black and white and obvious to a monkey.

But feel free to post a citations that disproves that, or if it's easier just post personal opinion and rhetoric if you think that is useful to the discussion.

Heroin, crack, meth, what will make guns less available to anyone with cash and a need?

Question:

There are 2 rooms. Both hold 30 people. In one room 25 people have a gun on them and in the other 1 person. What room has the biggest chance of having a gunfight?

That doesn't have to be true. We can get serious assault weapons and boxes full of hand grenades here in Thailand with incredible ease, but they are not shooting each other up on a regular basis. Regardless of the insane amount of weapons that people have access to here, most of the fun deaths stem from gangs (using cheap Chinese made handguns) or police used as hitmen.

I strongly believe it's a mix, which the USA has all of the following: 1) The weapons have to be easily available. 2) There needs to be a gun culture. 3) You need unstable people.

Haven't seen the stats but I'd be interested in seeing the gun deaths in the USA and compare them against other gun toting nations in South America or Africa. I assume it would, but I'm curious if more poverty breeds more gun deaths.

To add to my last post about poverty and guns... I'd bet that in the USA the majority of gun violence happens in lower income areas that are mostly black or Hispanic.

If this is the case, and it probably is, you can't condemn an entire nation of gun lovers due to boys from da hood.

FACT:
There are more firearms in the USA than residents.

Responsibility is a personal choice... and that is the problem.

Ok, give me a minute.

Obviously the one with more guns is the Vegas bet ..... BUT, what it takes is 1 fucked up person in either room. That's the only point I'm trying to make. Our society has some real fucked up losers in it and the easy way for them to lash out is with guns. The coward way. The easy way is always the way taken and guns do provide it.

So guns were not designed to kill? They were designed for sports and collecting ? Riiight

No shit, however the intended purpose of a gun is to kill, not to sit on a mantel place/shelf/safe.

I bet the owner of the gun in question here did not buy it thinking it would be used to kill a kid.

What road is that? In my daily life, I would be lucky to actually see a gun once a month and that would only be if I saw a police officer on the street.

I will never need a gun.

First world countries are generally thought to be civilised - this being my point.

As a percentage of the US's population are more people being killed by guns than 100 years ago? Or does instant word wide media coverage just make it seem that way? Did my grandfather in Florida know about a crime committed in California or Ohio? Today everything seems like it happened next door.

No facts about gun ownership and deaths per 100k people prove that. As I posted. Twice.

The laws that make guns hard to get hold of?

So what's the answer? More guns = not more gun violence? Is that your answer? Is it impossible to be pro guns and still be in touch with reality or what?

It takes a person to pull the trigger. There are tons of responsible individuals who own firearms, and have grown up around firearms for generations. Without incident.

Let's not blame this on "easy access" to firearms. We all know the countries were it's illegal to own one, it's still not hard to get one. And if someone really wants to commit a crime using one, they WILL find it, whether it's illegal or not. It's just like a drug addict, just because it's illegal doesn't mean people don't do drugs or find them.

Making guns illegal, just like drugs, or other things for that matter - like prostitution. Will have an even more negative impact on those situations.
