That doesn't have to be true. We can get serious assault weapons and boxes full of hand grenades here in Thailand with incredible ease, but they are not shooting each other up on a regular basis. Regardless of the insane amount of weapons that people have access to here, most of the fun deaths stem from gangs (using cheap Chinese made handguns) or police used as hitmen.

I strongly believe it's a mix, which the USA has all of the following: 1) The weapons have to be easily available. 2) There needs to be a gun culture. 3) You need unstable people.

Haven't seen the stats but I'd be interested in seeing the gun deaths in the USA and compare them against other gun toting nations in South America or Africa. I assume it would, but I'm curious if more poverty breeds more gun deaths.
