xxxwebhostiing...Anyone have comments?
I've used xxxwebhosting for years and I have never really liked the service I've received. Moving dedicated servers is never seemless and time is money in this business so I've put up with their overcharges, shitty customer service, etc. You don't need to tell me....I know, I'm a fucking idiot!
However, they changed their pricing structure to $350 a month for 400 GB of bandwidth at the end of January 2003 for a dedicated box. But I am still being charged $650 for 150 GB of bandwidth (their old pricing) on an inferior configuration. I'm going to call and bitch about this ASAP but I just wanted to see if I could get any feedback before I do so. I'm going to tell them to gofuckthemselves this month anyway as I have another provider at $150 a month for 400 GB of bandwidth. I've never changed because: a) I'm making good money and honestly been lazy to make any changes b) I got stoned and I missed it c) Too busy on many other things to address the issue d) I got stoned again Besides putting my bong down for a while, any suggestions? Luckily I use my AMEX gold card....I can feel a chargeback Any input would be great ![]()

MOVE! They rape you for shitty bandwidth and Ken is the biggest asshole i have ever had to deal with. There are loads of GOOD hosts with better quality bandwidth for MUCH less then they charge you.

I had a site there and moved it. My biggest bitch was security on virtual servers, or lack of it. But you have dedicated.

Thanks a million people for your immediate responses. I've been with those bastards for FUCKING 4 YEARS! I guess that's the nature of the beast when cash is at stake.
I have only myself to blame for letting it go on this long. My only consolation is I didn't give the cash to the IRS. (If that's anything to shout about). That just goes to show you how getting high doesn't help the situation so I switched back to alcohol. I've already got another dedicated box for $140 @ 400 GB of bandwidth ($0.75 /GB overages) , but it's not managed. The setup and configuration has been a heck of a learning curve, but hard work is not a problem and it's going to save me a bundle of cash. Reliablehosting my ass....That brings me to the old standby: If you want things done right, do them yourself.

LOL, XXX Webhosting IMO is good but a bit pricey. Talk to Phil before you leave and see if you can come to some agreement.

but i got high i was going to complain about that overcharge but i got high.... sorry...i have nothing productive to say really. I'm a photog and i'm on candid hosting for some lil projects. |

We have several merchants with XXXhosting and Phil has always been fair to them. I have never heard complaints from any before.

they've been good for me for the last 4 years, i'm sure you can negociate a better price than $650 and save yourself a server move, you can probably get what's advertised

It just goes to show you that communication is key with long-term relationships of any kind. With that said, I truly apologize for my preconception and presumptions regarding xxxwebhosting. The last thing I wish to do is ruin anyone's hard earned reputation with unjustifiable nonsense.

You can find cheaper hosting elsewhere, but you do get what you pay for, and with them you get greater reliability and good support. It really depends what you're looking for in a host.

i'm only with the for about 2 months, and i have to say that they're brilliant...
everytime i have problems with my sites or scripts (and i have a lot i really don't know where to get better support...they always have somebody online at icq... of course, now i pay 100 dollars more than i used to pay at dynamichosting...but xxxwebhosting (reliablehosting) is worth it! they moved all my stuff, scripts, databases from dynamichosting and they even discounted me the transer fee of some ucj scripts (they first told me they could move them, but then they couldn't - so they paid the fee)... i think that is service

On the tech side of things: Gavin is a smart guy who can fix you up real quick. Ken (who is in charge?) can't tie his own shoe laces without help.

Why do you stay there after getting ripped off for months then feel all happy and warm inside that right when you were going to leave Phil gives you a better deal? That's bullshit he should have gave you a better deal when bandwidth prices started dropping and not continuing to rip you off.
Really i have nothing against reliablehosting but they should have given clients a better price... it's not our job to contact them and make threats that we will leave to get lower prices, it's their job to remain competitive and keep me as a client.... and that they did not do. |

Well my partner and i asked them for better deal and they said no... however when we told them we had moved they asked what they could do to keep us... that's bullshit... i understand its business and see how you compare it to paysites however this is hosting and costs a lot more then $39.95/month or whatever. They should have given us a better deal when we asked for it and not tried to send us a discount link when we canceled our membership.

First of all I want to say that I like their customer support. But I don't like some people and their ethics there.
I have been with XXXwebhosting for 2 years, moved off them completely several months ago. Let me tell you the story. they were charging me 250/mbs for cogent bandwidth, Phil was saying it's their super multi homed connection yeah, but whenever I was doing traceroute into server or out of server I was getting cogent always. No matter how many times I asked Phil to switch me off cogent he refused to do so. So I decided to move all my servers. I did so. When next day this guy Ken jumped on me with all kinds of promises. He said he will switch me off cogent, he will put backup hard disks at no extra charge on all servers if I come back. Okay he bought me, I said I will move back only one server, he said okay make a new order with all you want. Once I moved my sites back to XXXwebhosting server they didn't want to keep promises. They didn't switch cogent bw to Verio as promised. They didn't put backup hard disks. I tried to ask Phil several times about bw - no luck he didn't want to switch it. So I got sick of all this and moved. And I'm happy that I did so. Now I find out that they have very cheap deals like $600 for 10mbs. So because I was paying ridiculous prices for 2 years Phil didn't want to discount them for me - I asked many times. Result - they've lost me and my friend cutetwink as customers. |
