Maybe someone here will know where to get it,

2 years ago someone showed me a PC app thats linke dto a box and you can enter what number you want it should show up on the persons caller ID box you are calling.

I know it can be done at SS7 level but im looking for a end solution.

I know it was made by a german company

I know there's a way to do it, but I think there's an SS7 flag that'll note it's "user-modified" caller ID info. Plus, no matter what you do the ANI will still come through with the correct info. I.e. if you call an 800 number and have caller-ID blocking enabled, they'll still get your number through ANI.

Ok im not taliing about calling an 800 number because I know that forces ANI regardless because the FCC mandates that is a person pays for the call he should see whos calling (they want cellular services to do that too now)

If you have a nortel DMS or certain Cisco gateways sitting on a SS7 network you can easily change ANI (name will show as unavailable)

I saw this box and software about 2 years ago I tested it and it worked, all I remember its some german company that did it.

I just email like 50 companies to try to locate this system.

I haven't looked into this in over a year, but when I looked into it - It was made pretty clear this wasn't possible. The data is sent from the CO. You might be able to send your own, but unless someone at the phone company screwed up - you won't be able to forge it so it gets through.

Now there is stuff like aniII and the fcc made changes to the way private payphones report their lines and stuff.

There might be some new loopholes, but I just don't see any us phone companies letting this happen.

Like I said I saw it work and on ss7 boxes its easy to do, Kinda like TellMe.com when they did a wake up call it comes up with a 800 number when they call you they put that into the network so that shows up althouh a 800 number is not calling you its a local line that is.

The data is sent from the CO but that data arrives from your phone so if the dial tone is modified using this box it sends other data.

Again I saw it work I tested it.

Yes not a digital T1 or ISDN just a regular line, I was amazed but did not need it at the time, now I can make a good ongoing use of it.

I remember reading about the same thing. A few months ago I went looking for info about it but couldn't find any. I did read on some message board (sorry don't remember which) that the loophole that had allowed the program to work was closed.

If you happen to find it please let me know, I'd be interested in using something like that.

As long as SS7 does it thre will be a emulator that can do the same, its the same concept

I can't see this working on a POTS line
the way SS7 is setup it has to the correct numbers
to setup a call and setup up proper Call Detail Record,

I use to work at a long distance carrier facility and there is equipment to test switch trunks and test SS7 line,
and you can fake caller ID,

my coworkers use to make alot of "TEST"calls to friends overseas,,
