a few things.

- you can ignore the book list as any clue to his politics. it includes both animal farm and the communist manifesto so it looks like he just had a wide reading range and was probably just reading the works of the "enemy" and well as things he supported.

- the closest to anything political in his videos/writings is a reference to returning to the constitution, which would put him in the consitutionalist/populist camps.

- but most of the people in those camps hate mainstream politics and media so blaming palin, beck, the tea party for this is silly and just mainstream political point scoring.

- from his writings he looks like he's gained his knowledge from the infowars, rense, zeigiest etc. sites, movies and movements.

- if you want to know what kind of politics that is go read some recent splc reports on resurgent militia movements.

- political knowledge in the US is very poor due to a gutted educational system and reality show style political discourse so many people who think they are politically aware don't even have the basics of the political spectrum and positions down. that's why it is hard to pin this guys politics, as well as the v for vendetta loser, the guy who flew his plane into the irs building. it is just some incoherent and half-baked world view taken from right and left wing sources, of course always proclaiming to "beyond right and left."

- these people are just against "the system" but since political expression and organization is a joke in the US, this is how people do it.

The right, yes, pro gun, but it's the left that portrayed the tea party as gun fanatics. Wasn't really that important at this time, very little to do with social issues really. Other than following the constitution.
But I agree, people are jumping on the band wagon saying he's a right wing loon with a gun when the last gunman to make a serious attack on a president was against Ronald Reagan, would any right wing person go after him?

Looks like you may be a little behind the news cycle. The second guy has been cleared, turned out it was the shooters cabbie that was running after him because the shooter did not pay the fee! Lucky the cabbie was not shot!

People looking at how other countries handle it, thats other countries, not the US. One guy here was appalled that a semi-automatic pistol was used, this guy knows nothing about guns I guess. A flint lock would have made a really big mess. If some one ran over a kid with a car, would you blame Ford? It's not the guns fault! It's not the right or the left, it's not going to be about guns. It's about someone that had a few screws loose, the guy couldn't even get in the Army and he read Mein Kampf? If you think that getting rid of guns would have stopped this guy, please try to remember that on Sept 11, 2001, the terrorist didn't use guns, they used a jet airliner. On Feb 18Th of last year a man flew a plane into an IRS building, are you going to blame the planes? __________________ Webair died? Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants think about that

However, completely aside from all that, the whole gun waving, ammo-buying, call for government overthrow by force of arms thing is absolutely associated with the right and the tea party. It's the right that is using shooting and gun metaphors, and buying ammunition, and by using those metaphors making the implied threat to shoot and kill to further political goals, and making political shooting look glamorous and heroic and "right". And to attempt to deny this and cover up their glorification of political gunsmanship after a shooting is disingenuous. Even tho it seems likely that this shooter is just a sick kid who seized on a crime of oppurtunity.
