| I take mine out every night. If I sleep in them for more than an hour or so they get all goopy and I have to squirt in a bunch of eyedrops to get them to unstick from the surface of my eyes. These are Accuvue 2 lenses, not sure how it is with other lenses.

 | A friend of mine wore them for a month and a half, thinking she'd be fine. Well now she's got a permanent ring around her eyeballs. I take mine out every night.

 | I take mine out every night. Every now and then if I'm too drunk and just want to crash I'll forget to take them out, but it usually doesn't bother me too much the next morning. I've been having eye troubles for the past 12 months. Inflammation and such. Been going to the doctor every 6 weeks for the past 4 months trying out various drops and such. This last time he gave me a steroid drop that is supposed to help with allergies, I think its finally doing the trick. My eyes don't exactly feel 100%, but they feel pretty damn close. I must be allergic to something that I don't know about.

I just don't do that since my optometrist (wich is a good friend of my parents) told me it could have slow long term effect because the eye don't get enough oxygen

 | Recommeded time for soft contacts is typically 1 to 2 weeks. Depending on your comfort level though many people go double that before they'll need to be changed. To be safe though 1 to 2 weeks is the best time.

By days end I'm ready to take them out. My eyes feel better with them out, gives them a nice chance to "breathe". They're "2 week" contacts, but I always took the 2 weeks as in the contacts lifespan, not actual wearing time.

I used to work in an optometrist's office and I've seen all kinds of contact lens abuse. People who go against the recommended wear time for their specific lenses can do some very serious damage to their eyes. There's a serious risk of infection because they need to be taken out every day and cleaned. There was also be physical damage done to the surface of your cornea - your eyes need oxygen. I think it's crazy to be so lazy with your personal health. It's the same as not changing your underwear for weeks at a time. Yes, that gross.
