car alarm problem, anyone good with this shit?
this morning my car alarm (Python alarm) was making odd sounds when i locked/unlocked the car through the alarm remote.. anyway tonite i hit unlock on the alarm remote, and nothing happend, so i try other buttons (alarm sound, lock, remote start) and they do not work either.. so i used the key to get into the car, and the alarm goes off.. but i cant use the alarm's remote to unlock it/shut the alarm sound off.. wtf is going on here?
yes the alarm remote's battery is good, i tried both clickers that came with it. i stopped playing with it because its 11pm and i got some bitchy neighbors.. any car security buffs around? i'd appreciate any help

Might get a reply if you give more details.. model of alarm, stuff like that. (Python what?) What components you have installed.. stuff like that.
I used to have a good forum about this stuff bookmarked.. if I can dig it up I will make another reply. |

I would just try resetting the computer on it. Just unplug the power to it, and if it has a battery backup take that out also. Wait a few min then put it back in.
It could be one of the sensors going off and not allowing you to lock the doors because of it. (check dome light? headlights? door pin? hood / trunk pins?). It could be litteraly hundreds of things though, might want to try and look it up by model number or check the manual under trouble shooting

ITt's not with your remote. All it does is send a signal, the stregnth of which is not going to affect the behavior of the alarm system itself. I would agree tha ht efirst thing to do is disconnect the car battery and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, also if the alarm has a backup battery diconnect that also. Is this your daily driver or a weekend car? Have you done anything like left the lights on or somethign that would drain the battery? Worst case would be that for somereason the battery drained low enough that it was sending low enough voltage to the alarm to burn something out, but I would imagine that things will be fixed when by unhooking hte battery.

What kind of strange noises ?? extra chirps ??? or weak sounding siren?? please describe. You need to count the number of flashes when the alarm is set. If it is a constant flash with no pauses or if it has a pause . If it has a pause .. the manual will tell you if there is a sensor triggered. If all else fails....Try putting the alarm in valet mode..( drivers door open turn the Key to the on position ..hit keys 1 - 2 -1 Then you can take it to the guys that instelled it and see what's wrong ![]() |
