What's the nicest hotel/most expensive hotel you ever stayed in?

Things are going really well with my new business and I'll be making a visa run to Singapore in a couple of weeks so I'm thinking of splurging a little. I'm looking at Raffles @$600 a night. Home of the Singapore Sling which was the first cocktail I ever ordered.

What's the best/most expensive places you've ever stayed at?

Hands-down, the Atlantis in the Bahamas. Beats every suite in Vegas -- and was comped just like those, so you can't beat the price!

As far as non-comped, probably a boutique in Italy or Japan ... I'd have to look at credit card statements to know for sure.

I did $400 a night at the Hyatt in Maui it was awesome. The amenities and VIP feeling was fun. Not sure if I would do it again though.

Nice! If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to know where you stayed in Japan. I have to do a visa run every 3 months and Tokyo is on my list.

Borgata in Atlantic City was a pretty exciting place to stay, great dining and service too.

http://www.theborgata.com/resort

up to par with the best hotels in Vegas, I think at the time (2004 I guess) it was the most expensive building ever built since the WTC.

I probably will. The only other one I'm considering is the Fullerton Bay - supposed to be awesome - same price range.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kona, Halekulani in Oahu, and stay at the Hotel Bel Air whenever I'm in LA.
All great hotels but the suite at the Four Seasons in Kona was spectacular

For me it wasn't about the cost. To be honest I have no idea what it cost, but likely around $150-$200 a night. It was a hotel on a place called Crocodile Island in near Luxor in Egypt. The rooms were nice, but the two best parts were the pool and their sunset presentation. The pool was oval shaped and it was shallow on the edges and deep in the middle. It was very cool. Every night at sunset they had a string quartet playing and they served champagne and strawberries. They had the music timed perfectly so just as the song reached its climax, the sun set over the hills. It was a pretty moving experience.

I only stayed there one night during my 2 weeks in Egypt, but it was a very memorable place.

800 Euro if I remember right but the hotel is top 1 really. The biggest money spent was years back when me and 1 of my really rich friend rent whole floor for some bit wilder party. I didn't pay but it was like 40K USD

We did a nice stay at the Hisperia in Madrid. the hotel was older but very nice and the service was great. I think it was 360 Euro a night.

But honestly I would rather have an average 120 a night room and spend the money on other things.

Presidential Suite at the Hyatt Hotel & Casino in Manila for a week . Runs about $700to $1000/night..of course I did not pay that rate lol.

I originally booked a regular suite at $200 /night but they upgraded me since I was a heacy repeat customer at the time.

Stay at Raffles in Singapore, it's a classic and the food is marvelous.
As a fancy lad, I enjoyed the daily tea time there

I was in Singapore last year, I got a suite at Marina Bay Sands, trust me.. you want to stay there! There isn't anything they can't do for you, if you get a suite you also get access to the VIP club on the rooftop bar/restaurant, free drinks and of course that pool is just something else. Raffles is nice to visit to try the singapore sling but in my opinion you wanna stay at Marina Bay Sands. It isn't the most expensive, it'll cost you around $700 a night for a decent suite but it's worth every cent.

You get VIP check in, you don't wait in line, you walk to a private room where they are waiting with refreshments and comfy seats, hand them your stuff and they take care of everything while you relax. You also have the Casino and shopping mall which is amazing and some really great eating places right on the water.

This is the hotel you immediately think when you think of Singapore. I was surprised how people put Raffles and Ritz in front of it. Not that they are not good

Amazing hotel. Small number of rooms and villas. I don't think we had more than 10-15 people on the beach at any one time. Not a water sports, x-games type vacation. But if you want the best food, relaxing massages, reading on the beach and unwinding, Ive found no place better (was 8 yrs or so ago, but it looks the same)

Good size Suite was $2,000 per night. Id say worth every penny, but its not. In a place that beautiful you want to be outside all day and its a lot to spend on a room to just sleep in, but it was amazing none the less.

In 2002 I stayed at The Bellagio in Vegas in a suite overlooking the fountains. It was pretty big and had a grand dining room, a living room, a guest bath, his and her master bathrooms, a steam room, and our own butler.

It was $1,700 a night.

I remember one night, CM had heartburn at 4 a.m.

She picked up the phone and a few minutes later the butler was there with Tums on a silver platter for her. lol

Beautiful! The diving was excellent. The strip clubs were "full contact", the nude beach is awesome (China Beach), the food is incredible.

I was there with one of my ex-wives (yeah, another giant fake tit blonde) and she was feature dancing at a club there. So we had the club owner and his flunkies show us the whole island during the couple of weeks we were there.

The nightlife was awesome.

I stayed in the Peninsula in Beijing about ten years ago and thought it was awesome. Jean Claude VanDamme was there at the same time as me, and I have to say he really is a douchebag.

Closer to home, I stayed in the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas a couple years ago and really liked it. There was no Gimme-Your-Money vibe that I feel in a lot of other Vegas hotels.

I don't know about that...we went there and ordered two screwdrivers (just plain old well-brand vodka)...it was $34 !!!

That was bullshit! lol

Went down to the Riviera and paid $2 for the same drink (only the bartender at The Riv made 'em extra strong).

I still can't wrap my head around the thinking of the big casino's that they would charge that kind of money for a drink.

Vegas was built off of free drinks and food. These days, you spend more on drinks and food than you do gambling.

I have a feeling that with gambling being legalized in more and more places...that kind of greedy ass attitude is going to hurt Vegas.

The most expensive wasn't the nicest in my experience.

Probably the most expensive was either the Ritz Carlton in Montreal or Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Both were between $300-400/night.

The nicest was our most recent - the Tamarijn in Aruba back in January.

In Spring 2008, my buddy found an online deal at the South Beach Ritz-Carlton. They had mistakenly priced oceanfront suites with the decimal in the wrong place. Suites that were supposed to be $1,050/night were slashed 90% to $105/night. I was skeptical about the deal, but surprisingly the Ritz-Carlton honored the typo when he checked in. The Ritz-Carlton is a class act vs. the Wyndham doing their fucked up shit to edgeprod.

I don't drink hard liquor, only beer and wine, and when I'm in a casino bar I like to play the poker machines at the bar--so I get comped the beers usually. I guess they saw you coming, Robbie.

Give me a tent, ice chest with beer and a fire. I'm good. Especially if there is duck hunting at 5am.

I am a fan of the Sofitel .... Nice place and great service.

I have stayed in them in Philadelphia for weekend getaways. Always a great time.

I've stayed at 4 different st. regises (Regae? Regi?) anyway they were really nice - good rooms about $1400 a night in NYC, cheaper in FL, Atlanta, and Rome. Suite in Mandalay Bay, floor to ceiling windows and a media room.

Honestly a fancy room is boring if you're alone. The best room I've ever stayed in was the presidential at the St. Regis in NYC, upgrade, and I came in late and had a meeting at 6am! I sat in the living room and ate a banana. It was a good banana. When I have tons of time, the upgrades never happen.

Presidential bungalow BH hotel.(private pool)
The Pierre (already mentioned)
Royal suite - Savoy (you get use of the rolls ;) and Ritz Paris.

Best Value for money?
Hyatt Regency Grand Cyprus and villas at Grand Cyprus...not insanely fancy but great value and service when with the family at Disney.

And Randyrandy,
Try the Shangri-La...but go have a drink at Raffles (you gotta)

Not exactly a hotel, but we had the Pinnacle suite during our last Holland America cruise and wow. I mean, WOW.
It was a little over $10,000 for the whole cruise, but well worth it!

Nice! We have done the Penthouse a few times on the Queen Elizabeth2 (the old one, not the latest one) , and had the Roy Disney suite on the Disney Cruise...both were majestic. Like you , I think, I wondered whether to mention them ...but as you did...

;-))
