Bluehost: terrible hosting service - GoFuckYourself.com

Avoid them. Friend of mine maxed out his credit card, so mailed them a money order to pay for his hosting. MO arrived a day before expiry, but they shut down his site for 3 days (they had to 'walk' the money order from one bldg to another).

When he called their manager to complain she said that they were unable to have his site up unless Billing physically had the funds in their hands. She said their developers would have to write new code to allow the site to stay up if Billing didnt have the money in their hands.

This is not the only occasion either.

By contrast with Midphase even if you call them and tell them the money is a day late, they'll give you a grace period.

Never use Bluehost, they're a bunch of inflexible pricks.

YEah they suck ass. My wife had a blog on them and they were down at least 2 times a month. Finally pulled the hosting and got a partial refund.

Yeah, I have a past with bluehost as well. They are one of those companys that asks way to much for way to little. I had a billing issue with them, almost the same as your friend. Contacted them and was pretty much told to go fuck myself.
Contacted hostgator, was up and running within a half hour. I've been there for a year now. Great customer support, and amazingly understanding individuals. If I need anything from them, all I do is call. Never had a problem, no downtime or bullshit. They do their thing, I do mine, its all good.

Had the exact opposite happen at Hostgator. Needed to update my CC info, and they kept sites up without getting there money for a week.
