One of their reps just spammed me on icq, asking me shit that was none of thier freaking business. I was considering them but now they can go fuck themselves. Pathetic marketing department you guys have, fucking spammers :ak47: :ak47:

I've been with them for years. Like Whoa rules.

He asked me right off the bat how much data transfer I do a month. I don't care how good thier hosting is, they have no right to spam me on icq. If I wanted their hosting I would go to thier website, which now I will avoid ever going there again. Think if I was hosted on their servers and spammed my site over icq they would care?

They spammed me all the time. I told them 5 times I was not interested. One offered me 0.25$ / gig hosting. Another one said that was impossible. I said no need to conact me again, they didn't.

I don't follow this thinking. Spam is spam, spam is recieving unsolicited crap. I didn't ask for him to message me with info about hosting. If I take the time to send every icq contact I have the url of a new program instead of sending it bulk, it is still spam? YES IT IS.

I highly doubt that it was anyone intend, more importantly Like Whoa's to make you feel that we are spammers. If this was an unpleasing conversation, you are more then welcome to contact our corporate headquarters and inform of the incident, you can rest assured that it will be addressed.

I don't feel it is right to identify our whole company based on an unpleasing incident. My personal apologies on this matter.

We are always looking for new clients. An expanded sales and marketing team is obviously looking for higher goals then before, so that argument is absolutely correct. Desperately or not? That's solely from the perspecitve you see fit, but we look at this as business... More is always better, if we can satisfy everyone.

Sure, every company has as goal to expand its clientbase and operations - however, it seems that the individual who started this thread thought the marketing method used by one of your employees was rather offensive. Offensive marketing techniques might have the adverse effect.

Anyway, LikeWhoa certainly looks like a professional company and one incident does not represent the company as whole.

I appreciate that. If Choker felt the urge to express his anger over an aggressive marketing it's definitely in a right to do so. At the same time, Like Whoa would take this matter seriously and address accordingly, not just disregard and continue.

Yea, those guys spam me on AIM all the time. I've been asked how much my hosting is, what I transfer, what box I have, by 4 different LikeWhoa people.

One of which, couldn't understand the differences between colo and dedicated... LOL.

I'm constantly hit up on ICQ and email from people *gasp* asking for services, trades, etc. In the good old days that's how we did things. Now if you contact someone personally and ask, they think you are spamming. I can't wait to see this industry in 2-3 years...everyone will be submitting 100 picture galleries to TGP's with one banner, that's not even linked (the surfer will be expected to see the url on the banner and type it into their browser) and any announcement by anyone stating what they do will be decried as spam and people will run the other direction. Sponsors will have to get their message out to potential affiliates via mental telepathy....

Think of it this way...if you picked up 10-12 new accounts a month marketing this way and piss off a few people (who most likely wouldn't have hosted with you anyways) do you really care?

The majority of the time the ones complaining serriously about spam (not talking about unsoliceted mailings) are the ones who couldnt do a private deal if they wanted to.
They think they have to be on a board and everthing has to be public in order to get business done.

I make NOTHING from Datahosters. I send them biz because they have treated me right. Soliciting by icq is INTRUSIVE and you know it. Looks like likewhoa rounded up all his cronies to defend himself, whatever.

But I don't fault you guys for it. If they are bringing you in more biz then don't worry about it. the people who switch and host with you will be happy and the ones who didn't & got solicited will eventually forget about it.

I consider it networking and building relationships some I do biz with and some I will do biz with.

All I can say to webmasters who complain about getting spammed by reputable companies is one day you might need them or want to do some biz with them. so never burn your bridges.

Yes, we have lots of sales reps here, and everybody is unique in their way of doing their job for the company.

It is unprofessional and downright pathetic. This is not the first time this has happened to me, I have gotten these from your reps many times. I do admit when he icqed me up I had a lot of open icqs and was getting frustrated as it was, he just pushed me over the edge. And asking me how much bandwidth I use really pissed me off, this is nobodies business but my own. Before you let a new rep go out beating the bushes for new business, maybe you should teach him some etiquette.
