Most is bullshit, but most if not all of the shit I use and run is from a person initally contacting me about an oppertunity. Even if i dont need anything at the time, if its a large comapny ive heard of I always hear em out to see what they have to say out of respect. You can never have enough friends in the industry. NEVER.... Plus you never know when you may need this oppertunity in the future. Contacts are always key. Networking and knowing people is what it is all about.

Webmasters contact me all the time with oppertunities on icq and on the phone. Like I said most of its shit, but if a person from a known comapny is personally contacting me I always listen and send them on their way if im not intrested. Neverthelass I establish the contact and and part in good terms always if its a reputable company. Take Candid for example. I dont need or use thier hosting, dont use thier feeds, dont even use any of their programs. Yet I know all thier sales guys. I BS with em talk with em all the time. They tell me about oppertunities all the time and i listen. I dont see myself using any of their products anytime soon, yet they are good friends of mine and we have established contacts. When something comes up you can bet ill contact them.

You need to have an eye for things. WHos who.

Boneprone, I get these icqs from these guys all the time. It is not someone wanting to chat, they come on and first thing they ask is "Where Are you hosted at" or "How much traffic or you doing a day now". These are from people not on my icq list. I get hundreds of icqs a day, many from newbies and I am NEVER rude, I answer and help people as much as I can. Likewhoa admitted that this rep was a newbie rep. This is not someone I know, I do business with guys that work at likewhoa and from time to time some of them do icq me up about hosting. That is no problem, I talk to them and all is cool, but they did not icq me up because I was on a "Todays Leads" sheet or some crap like that. That's the difference I see.

I tried Verio, they sucked cock. It took them over 1 month to install my cage, and they couldnt even find any fuck shelves OR the key to open my cage in the first place. In addition, they had thugs doing the cleaning in their "secure" datacenter. Oh did I mention their Seattle Facility went under after I moved out? thats cuz nobody likes getting dicked around. We shut them down. San fRan, also nice, suffererd same problem as Dave in new york. Not enough fucking support. so I moved everything out here, and blew out my gige pipes cuz we could actually work on our network. Oh look everything is great now and business is good.

oh yea, one last thing... verio... financially stable background? uh no. private company and therefore able to hide their losses? yes.

When likewhoa's reps icq website owners up, they know they are already hosted somewhere, they are not trying to get you to try them , they are trying to steal you from another host with crap like this. That is why the first thing they ask you is "Who are you hosted with". I am willing to bet money they have prepared sheets in front of them with things to say bad about any host you tell them you are with. If icqs from likewhoas reps were compared, the pattern would show no doubt.

'till this point LikeWhoa spamming me has been one of the best things to happen. Asswhippin' 24/7 phone support, Techs sitting in the NOC in front of consoles not a "tech" relaying to techs (Like XXX Webhosting). Sales people willing to bargain for your business with competitive pricing... before you've moved your boxes not after (Like XXX Webhosting).

Take two seconds to read webmaster spam and you might just come up on some killer deals. In general webmaster spammers are hungry motherfuckers ready to make killer deals.

i used to host at likewhoa, and yes, its is a very good hosting company, maybe the best. i never got a single downtime. But of course its more than clear that their sales representatives are doing a aggressive marketing = spam

Choker, it's a fact that there was not single individual that contacted you except for this incident that sparked all attention, nobody else from Like Whoa, ever regarding hosting.

As far as the logs, I just e-mailed to find out who was the sales person that did that as well. The method used is unacceptable. It goes against our policy and violates what we stand for.

Whether our sales tactics are aggressive or not, I cannot argue from my current position. What I can say however is that Like Whoa provides one of the best hosting services to webmasters, and always strives to do better.

We work round the clock to make sure that our customers are happy and our client base builds faster then ever before, as long as we can continue to provide the same level of quality service or better.

The Verio? The company is publically traded via NTT (largest telecommunication company) and they are financially hurt with the rest of the telco market. Nonetheless, they are constantly ranked as one of the best providers and we are confident in our position with them (We wouldn't sacrifice our name for a company we did not have trust in).

At first I was skeptical about LikeWhoa -- but the employees are very down to earth -- not something you would expect from a hosting company in New York -- LOL... The fucking best is day or night I can ICQ [email protected] and get biz taken care of almost instantly. Their console interface is pretty kick ass too for managing domains and email boxes -- i've been able to get my spam situation under control w/ Likewhoa's email console -- now I use them for my incoming and outgoing mail server so I can access my email from any ISP now... well I could go on and on, but LikeWhoa is Family approved and that's just the bottom line ;)

Anyway I don't think Choker seems to have much of a point anyway -- if he doesn't want any ICQ's from LikeWhoa -- he could just have ignored them -- fuck unfortunately I ignore dozens if ICQ messages every day... Big deal. I think Choker just wants some attention for his biz because he knows that LikeWhoa has a lot of support and The Family is behind them 100%...

fwiw, verio is not owned by a public company. they're owned by NTT USA. verio has had serious financial trouble which stems back to how they were created. technically, as long as you only rely on them for raw pipe, they're not so bad now.

unless your spending 200 bux a month on a dedicated server, you get it for free.

These days == free server + free bandwidth+ other free shit == expected.

Attitude == bad. The sales team's opinion is likely representative of their companies attitude towards others. There is no way in Hell I would allow shit like that to fly over here. Sell on YOUR points, not attack others. Unless they have no control over their company, I would bet this sort of behavior is encouraged at the sales meetings.

One of Likewhoas reps contacted me I told him several times that I wasn't interested but he just kept talking eventually I deleted him.
