WiredGuy 07-20-2005 09:16 AM

Wow, I just noticed this part of the article:
Quote:

TJ Web Productions, LLC, a Nevada company; Cyberheat, Inc., an Arizona Corporation; and Impulse Media, a Washington corporation
Isn't that Timbo's company, TopBucks and Soulcash respectively?

BradShaw 07-20-2005 09:17 AM

The part that would bother me is that you can't have further violations. So if an affiliate spams again watch out!

Fletch XXX 07-20-2005 09:19 AM

yes, Impulse Mesia is SOulcash

llporter 07-20-2005 09:19 AM

My bad...

crockett 07-20-2005 09:25 AM

What gets me is it's not the program that is doing the spamming, so assuming they killed all affiliates that spam. What's to stop the competition from getting some spammers to send out of bunch of spam promoting those programs to put them out of biz.

Good, a fine like that should be taken seriously, no matter how big you are.

dropped9 07-20-2005 09:33 AM

That's a lot of folks we all know right there....

Drake 07-20-2005 09:34 AM

That's a lot of coin :Oh crap

TheDoc 07-20-2005 09:35 AM

This is pretty deep shit..

From what I understand not all the companies listed spam and they do close webmaster accounts that don?t send compliant emails. Notice some settled while others didn?t, if you didn?t violate the law then no reason to settle.

And?.. THIS ISN?T the cost of doing business, this is the cost of breaking the law.

It was taken very seriously and we got a lot of flack for no longer accepting mail months ago.

These days it is just easier not to accept mail.

with the amount of content they have in their backend, there should be no need to spam.

I would suspect the fines are a small percentage (10%ish) of what was made.

SouthernGirl 07-20-2005 09:38 AM

i hope they havent spent all their money along the way

I'd guess less than that. But the ones that settled can easily be fucked by a rogue affiliate spamming them for fun. Part of the agreement was no more spams.

Even at that you're still making a nice profit :)

The no more spam clause I'm sure makes it hard to continue doing this on an on-going basis :)

Pure Marketing Solutions, LLC, a Florida company, and Internet Matrix Technology, a corporation based in Louisiana, will together pay $50,000.

Wasn't PMS - purecash?

I thought they closed up

TheDoc 07-20-2005 09:50 AM

I'm just courious.. But why would you settle if you didn't break the law in the first place? TOS or not.. I know for a fact I have recieved spam from some of these companies in the last month. Looking to see if I can dig it up again..

If you have received anything from an affiliate of ours, do hit me up on ICQ so they can be terminated.

ps: that includes someone who *IS* in compliance, as we accept *NO* email traffic. Period.

The cost of settling is far less than the cost of defending yourself against the FTC. If you're not making that much money from mail, it may be a better choice.
