Depending on which source you listen to, anywhere from 50 to 550 of them were machine gunned by US forces after surrendering.

The camp guards, of course, only got what they deserved.

Complicating matters a bit however was the fact that a large number of SS combat troops were captured in the general vicinity and many of them ended up sharing the same fate as the camp guards.

To the US army, one SS uniform looked just like another SS uniform.

You can't really see it but there's inside that there's this maybe 3 or 4 meter pit. You can see the mound of ash in that pic near where the people are.

several camps were only for extermination... the only labors were the jews working the 'line' so to speak. the nazi's would unload the jews at the fake train station, strip them, pull out a few to work and run the rest right down to the gas chamber. if the chamber was on the fritz they would shoot them as best they could....

You know, thats what bugs me about the holocaust, so many people died from so many areas of life in the camps but its always portrayed as solely a Jewish disaster.
