Suggestion: Read Steve Jobs' Biography
|
Bitter and greedy, GFY'er material that's for sure.

Don't have time for that...

I read it. Great insight into the Apple empire. There are some great business takeaways if you're a real businessman, and not just pretending to be one on GFY.

I enjoy biographies, even though they are generally self-aggrandizing, and so I picked up Jobs' bio to read, but my wife already nabbed it, so I won't be able to read it until she's through... :Oh crap :playboy ADG |

For all the accolades Jobs gets the fact that he stole the original ideas for the MAC from Xerox are undeniable. I was, working with (not for) Xerox on that very project (letter sized screen, WYSIWYG, mouse etc) Jobs saw it on a Xerox visit and the idea for the MAC was born, and Xerox never really got a product to market.

Jobs was an overrated fag - wouldn't wipe my ass on his dickwad book.

Also Jobs was straight. And you can't really wipe your ass with a book, you could tear the pages out but they are less than suitable. ...But if you were to wipe your ass with it, I think it would be more appropriately called 'bumwad' rather than 'dickwad', if I have my TP slang in order. Beyond that, excellent post, very factual, thanks for contributing to the discussion. |

LOL not even I can beat Chuck Norris God didn't ask me for advice but lately I been feeling like I was there...ie OLD |
I think I may be ready to read it now. Seems like it came out too soon after he died.
Even though I had never met him or anything, I had been a fan of his for years and thought it would be just be too depressing to read it the time. |
I read it, he seemed very driven, very smart and very broken. He fucked Woz over multiple times and if it wasnt for Woz there would be no apple. That man was really the father of the modern PC.

ironic when a black man uses a mac, given the machine was made by slaves. & when jews drive a volkswagen, that makes me LOL.

I fucking hate the postmortem worship of this monomaniac who was revered because he was obsessed with work, and loved scornfully busting other people?s balls if they weren?t obsessively working for him. People are always posting that stupid fucking Stanford address, they worship this guy like he was the second coming of Jesus Christ. The fact that this type of malformed quasi-human is a ?hero? is why there is no way to have any kind of life in this country without being dedicated to work to the detriment of everything else. We worship people who worship work and money. We scoff at people who don?t want to work hard. Which is to say, every person with a fucking soul. They made a big dfucking deal about Jobs? last words being ?wow... oh wow? as though he were fully comprehending the infinite universes contained in a single flower petal. But I bet he was remembering some fucking regression formula he had browbeaten some underling into coming up with that successfully calculated the bare minimum you could pay some faceless Shanghai serf to bend a lead wire ten thousand times per day before they threaten to jump off a building. I bet he was calculating the compound interest on that bonus he fucked Wozniak out of forty years back and becoming one with the dazzling power of exponential growth. I bet he was remembering how he?d fucked over some corporate rival and gotten them to fold ? like, he?d heard the news that Adobe Flash Player was finally tanking. Whatever it was, you can one hundered per cent god damn guarantee that whatever Jobs was oh wow-ing about as the cancer of his soul finally became corporeal was some monomaniacal thing having to do with work, money and ambition. By the way, if you told me on my deathbed that my children and grandchildren would never have to restart their browser again because adobe flashplayer had another update like they do every five fucking minutes, my final words would probably also be, "wow... oh wow." |

every jewish person I know drives Mercedes or BMW. both German cars. cars aren't racist, they're inanimate objects. if I was jewish, I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of the driving experience because said vehicle was designed by a maker in a country where a clown like hitler ruled. hitler isn't a representation of the german people. anyone who knows the history knows this. hitler gave germany a bad name.
my point is, Mac is a superior product, for my own preference. i don't care if the most reprehensible person on earth designed it. It's a superior product and I'll use them until a more superior one comes along, and then jump ship like the unloyal consumer I am. best or bust, is my motto. Lol. |
His return to Apple reminds me of The Count of Monte Cristo.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=j8zVglXFO7A One thing I really admired about him was how he would still occasionally answer random emails. Here's a memorable exchange. http://gawker.com/5641211/ "A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them." is probably my favorite quote. |
What page does her get cancer?

Autobiography could be called...
|
I read it. I liked John Gotti's better except for the ending, but actually they both pretty much ended the same.
|
I don't use Mac products because I prefer to own the stuff I buy, meaning I can do what I want with it. I would be a fool of businessman if I failed to learn from Jobs, though. Of course he was enormously successful, more than once, so missing the busuness lessons because I don't care for their model would be awefully silly.
As Shotsie said, I don't want to ever be obsessed with work the way Jobs was. I'd miss out on much more important things. I think I'll still read (or listen to) the book. If nothing else, it will remind me to not worry about making the business skyrocket because that's not going to happen, not without giving up things I'm not willing to give up. |
I enjoyed reading that book. I both gave it as a christmas present, and a family member gave it to me.

Also far apple being superior products apple makes them good enough and expensive. I got acers from 2 to 5 yrs old, they work perfectly and cost a quarter what a 15 and a 17 inch mac would cost. I had a macbook and macbook pro, they did have amazing screens but ran hot. No excuse in a laptop that isnt cheap to run hot. Asus is getting very close on the screen quality. |

Jews buy german product, obviously forgiving of cattle cars, starvation, naked lineups in freezing cold, experiments on twins, the lucky jews got gassed or shot fast. Today americans are allegedly repulsed by slavery but are AOK that some of the things we buy are made by slaves. Who cares that the retina display was assembled by slaves, it looks so good. But the only winner in this game is Steve Jobs & apple stockholders, who are a lot richer because of the cost savings of chinese children vs americans & their burdensome workplace regulations. this is why the american worker is dead. american consumers dont give a fuck. & neither do american CEOS like steve jobs. :2 cents: |

What the fuck does the treatment of workers in CHINA have to do with Steve Jobs?
Steve Jobs has no control over that shit. I mean really? Even if Steve Jobs went to China himself and said "NO!" they would have laughed at him and whipped the next underage worker that walked by. That's interesting about Apple engineers tho. |
exactly. i don't care where the superior products come from. they get to me and i pay the money for them. not complicated at all. :2 cents:

i guess my beef is with capitalism, or its immorality, when CEOS decide the bottom line is most important. better to send low skilled labor to where its cheapest, regardless of the pay & working conditions of the people at the bottom. Like i said, consumers dont care, CEOs dont care. |

It's no secret that the Mouse and GUI that Windows and OS/X are based on today were invented by Xerox, but its a myth that Jobs stole these ideas. Jobs and several Apple employees including Jef Raskin visited Xerox PARC in December 1979 to see the Xerox Alto. Xerox granted Apple engineers three days of access to the PARC facilities in return paid them $1M + the option to buy 100,000 shares of Apple at the pre-IPO price of $10 a share. |

The really bad thing is that some US leaders are using socialist / communist economies like Chona and Europe as examples of what they want the US to be like. The average income (PPP) in EU countries is $31,000. In the US, $48,000. How many times have you heard Obama indicate we should be more like Europe. Yeah, that's a great idea, let's all be $17,000 poorer. |
