Facing deportation for stopping crime
Just like the police tell you to do, Abel Moreno called 911 when a man began assaulting his girlfriend. Before the end of the year, he could be deported to Mexico for his trouble.
Moreno, 29, of Charlotte made the call Dec. 29 because, he alleged, a Charlotte police officer was trying to fondle his girlfriend after a traffic stop. The officer ordered Moreno to drop the call and arrested him and his girlfriend for resisting arrest. Several things then happened. Five other women came forward to allege that the officer, identified as Marcus Jackson, now 26, had tried to molest them, too. Moreno was released after investigators debunked the resisting arrest charge. So was his girlfriend. Jackson was fired and faces 11 counts of sexual battery, extortion and interfering with emergency communication. Police Chief Rodney Monroe admitted that Jackson should never have been hired in the first place because of previous charges related to a restraining order filed by an ex-girlfriend. The local 911 system is under review because Moreno?s call wasn?t acted upon. And Abel Moreno now has a six-month deadline to show why he shouldn?t be deported, even though police acknowledge that his 911 call was crucial to their uncovering a dirty cop, and even though they agree that he shouldn?t have been arrested. MORE and the illegals are the "problem". Right. Fucking pigs. |
Illegals are still breaking the law, regardless of their superman powers.

I dont know what that has to do with illegal immigration. Is this Abel Moreno guy a legal immigrant or an illegal?

...and if the same thing happened in Mexico, and you were there illegally, they would deport you also... So? I guess the moral is... don't enter another country illegally. . |

If you were in Mexico illegally, and you saw a cop doing something illegal, and reported it, the Mexican government would deport you. This is one of the consequences of entering a country illegally. PERIOD . |

bastard cop! I can't stand them, they should all be roasted over an open fire!
|
the interesting thing is the Sanctuary City declaration by Los Angeles was done so illegals would actually report crimes without facing deportation LOL
The Police Chief is who put forth Special Order 40 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Order_40 Ultimately making los Angeles a haven for illegals. |

If the former, you are wrong. They would deport you. If the latter, this is the reason why it's bad to enter any country illegally... when you do that, you find yourself unable to avail yourself of the local law enforcement, since, in essence, you are actually a fugitive of sorts. This is why, among other reasons, you should not enter a country illegally. . |
What part of illegal don't you understand?!

As for getting your papers, that sounds like doing it LEGALLY, doesn't it? And for cops not messing with them.... I'm not sure what dreamland part of Mexico you live in, but the massive amount of abuse that the Mexican police heap on illegal immigrants from central america is well documented, and range from robbery, to rape... BY THE MEXICAN POLICE. . |

You can report a crime anonymously! I have done it several times in the past! I saw the crime didnt want to get involved so I called and left an anonymous report of something going on. Saw the cops appear and clean things up!

That cop broke the law - and has been punished. Why the mexican who broke the law shouldn't be punished? |

"A judge granted Moreno a six-month deferment on his deportation because he is a witness in the criminal investigation. But that reprieve runs out in November." "Moreno?s attorney, Rob Heroy, said he was confident Moreno would eventually be granted a so-called U visa, which allows illegal immigrants who are victims or witnesses in criminal investigations to stay in the country for up to four years. But only 10,000 such visas are available in any year, and while that process works its way through the system, Moreno remains in limbo. " It does happen. So why is this guy getting screwed, especially when it was law enforcement that created the whole situation to begin with. |

this title i misleading
he is not being deported for stopping a crime he is being deported for being in the country illegally if he had let buddy cop a feel....no problem |

if your living conditions are desperate you will consider any possible option. especially if you're well aware your neighbor contry borders poorly protected and you can even get some social benefits and chance of deportation being close to none if you play smart. |

I'm guessing that he is "getting screwed" probably because he entered a country, other than his own, without legal permission... Just a guess mind you... I'm not a lawyer or anything. .:) |
