Facing deportation for stopping crime

Just like the police tell you to do, Abel Moreno called 911 when a man began assaulting his girlfriend. Before the end of the year, he could be deported to Mexico for his trouble.

Moreno, 29, of Charlotte made the call Dec. 29 because, he alleged, a Charlotte police officer was trying to fondle his girlfriend after a traffic stop. The officer ordered Moreno to drop the call and arrested him and his girlfriend for resisting arrest.

Several things then happened. Five other women came forward to allege that the officer, identified as Marcus Jackson, now 26, had tried to molest them, too. Moreno was released after investigators debunked the resisting arrest charge. So was his girlfriend.

Jackson was fired and faces 11 counts of sexual battery, extortion and interfering with emergency communication. Police Chief Rodney Monroe admitted that Jackson should never have been hired in the first place because of previous charges related to a restraining order filed by an ex-girlfriend. The local 911 system is under review because Moreno?s call wasn?t acted upon.

And Abel Moreno now has a six-month deadline to show why he shouldn?t be deported, even though police acknowledge that his 911 call was crucial to their uncovering a dirty cop, and even though they agree that he shouldn?t have been arrested.

Illegals are still breaking the law, regardless of their superman powers.

iSpyCams 05-26-2010 10:03 AM

I dont know what that has to do with illegal immigration. Is this Abel Moreno guy a legal immigrant or an illegal?

More important are the people breaking the law that are supposed to be enforcing it.

He's being deported because he wouldn't allow a COP to rape his girlfriend on the side of the road.

This is one of the reasons that so called "sanctuary" cities do not ask about immigration status. They do not want illegal immigrants afraid to report crimes for fear of being deported.

...and if the same thing happened in Mexico, and you were there illegally, they would deport you also...

So? I guess the moral is... don't enter another country illegally.

"While he was still in jail, Moreno was found to have been in the United States illegally for the past six years, working at a restaurant so he could send money back home to his mother and his five brothers and sisters in Acapulco."

I'm not sure you "get it". If every illegal in the US is afraid to report crime because of fear of deportation, the cops get a free pass to do anything they want, as is evidenced by this case. Fortunately for the girl, the guy wasn't afraid. But how many crimes will go unreported now?

Sure I get it.... I don't think that you get it.

If you were in Mexico illegally, and you saw a cop doing something illegal, and reported it, the Mexican government would deport you.

This is one of the consequences of entering a country illegally.

No they wouldn't. Fear of reporting it would prevent me from doing so. The crime would go on unhindered. Same as here. You think any illegals in Arizona are going to be reporting crimes any time soon? LOL

czarina 05-26-2010 10:14 AM

bastard cop! I can't stand them, they should all be roasted over an open fire!

Fletch XXX 05-26-2010 10:16 AM

the interesting thing is the Sanctuary City declaration by Los Angeles was done so illegals would actually report crimes without facing deportation LOL

The Police Chief is who put forth Special Order 40 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Order_40 Ultimately making los Angeles a haven for illegals.

You're not exactly correct there, my friend. I've lived in Mexico for several years now, and have lots of friends that are here illegally and when they call the cops, nobody messes with them. Immigration is very lax in Mexico. What's more, if you're here illegally, all you need to do is prove that you have an income of $1000 USD a month from another country and you get your papers as an Non-Inmigrant Living Off His/Her Rents.

You don't think that the Mexican government would deport you? Or are you just saying that fear of deportation would keep you from reporting it in the first place?

If the former, you are wrong. They would deport you.

If the latter, this is the reason why it's bad to enter any country illegally... when you do that, you find yourself unable to avail yourself of the local law enforcement, since, in essence, you are actually a fugitive of sorts.

This is why, among other reasons, you should not enter a country illegally.

that's interesting. I know a couple that was there illegally, and they were deported. They had money also.

As for getting your papers, that sounds like doing it LEGALLY, doesn't it?

And for cops not messing with them.... I'm not sure what dreamland part of Mexico you live in, but the massive amount of abuse that the Mexican police heap on illegal immigrants from central america is well documented, and range from robbery, to rape... BY THE MEXICAN POLICE.

I'm saying I would never report a crime out of fear of deportation. Even if there's only a 10% chance of deportation, I wouldn't report it. Illegals here are no different. Crime in Arizona will be rampant if they continue down this path of "collecting Mexicans" for deportation. I don't just mean the rotten cops, but every other thug & criminal out there too is going to be able to do as they please pretty much. If illegals witness them doing something illegal, it's no big deal because they won't be reporting it. Makes for great victims too when you know they won't be calling the po po

That will probably be a good reason for them not to stay, huh?

Why? It's one less thing they need to involve themselves in. Avoid the police at all costs, live a happy life. Gangbangers do it every day. You don't see them leaving.

Yes. And if he had allowed the cop to fuck his girl in the ass on the side of the road, he wouldn't be getting deported, would he.

You can report a crime anonymously! I have done it several times in the past! I saw the crime didnt want to get involved so I called and left an anonymous report of something going on. Saw the cops appear and clean things up!

That's great, but it does not sway my opinion of the corrupt pigs supposedly enforcing our laws. It's not just the pig on the street either. Why did 911 not follow up on that call? Did they know that cop needed to get some ass that day?

It's not anonymous when you call 911 and making the call later is not an option when the highway patrol has his meathooks down your girls pants.

Not really the subject of this conversation is it? That is up to Charlotte to investigate. Your post has to deal with illegal immigrants and if they should get a pass because they reported a crime.

That cop broke the law - and has been punished.
Why the mexican who broke the law shouldn't be punished?

And they do.

"A judge granted Moreno a six-month deferment on his deportation because he is a witness in the criminal investigation. But that reprieve runs out in November."

"Moreno?s attorney, Rob Heroy, said he was confident Moreno would eventually be granted a so-called U visa, which allows illegal immigrants who are victims or witnesses in criminal investigations to stay in the country for up to four years. But only 10,000 such visas are available in any year, and while that process works its way through the system, Moreno remains in limbo. "

It does happen. So why is this guy getting screwed, especially when it was law enforcement that created the whole situation to begin with.

it's not like these people do it for sport, leisure and vacationing.
if your living conditions are desperate you will consider any possible option.
especially if you're well aware your neighbor contry borders poorly protected and you can even get some social benefits and chance of deportation being close to none if you play smart.

I'm guessing that he is "getting screwed" probably because he entered a country, other than his own, without legal permission...

Just a guess mind you... I'm not a lawyer or anything.

That's the entire point. (and I didn't create the headline). So what kind of wild crime sprees are the Arizona cops going to be going on now that they know none of the illegals will report them?
