Mac vs. Windows laptops
I know there are many variables to consider when purchasing a new laptop that fits your needs. I would like to start thread asking what are the advantages and disadvantages of a windows laptop and a mac laptop.....what are your thoughts and personal experiences considering this matter.
|
should be an interesting thread...
|
macs are cuter

I own pc, and I am so jealous of all my mac friends. That shit just does what its supposed to do all the time, unlike my damn PC. Stuff just works, you plug it in and 90 percent of the time your done, unlike my pc which I have to reinstall shit 50 times before I can get it to work lol...

Yeah, I don't know where he gets that, I never have any problems installing anything. I myself stick with PC because I'm a gamer and we all know that macs suck because everything comes out for the PC. Plus a PC does all the work that I throw at it, so I have no reason to change. |
You can run Windows on a Mac (if it is really necessary). So why would you want a crappy Dell when you can get a Macbook or Macbook Pro?

some interesting point made, it seems to me like mac is winning the race.....who would have though:error

Never understood why people rant on about how great the Mac is against the PC. The fact remains that these very people are clearly into the "beauty" of the Mac notebook line-up. It's all about the looks. Why? Because anyone with a brain would realize that the Mac OS sucks balls, has very limited programs (when you really think about it). The PC as unfashionable as it may be to you MAC obsessives runs the majority of programs made today, and pretty much always have. Also I suspect that most of us were raised on Windows, and therefore it is hard to break away from the platform and migrate to an alien-interface that won't run the shit we need and has some problems with other things, like compatibility wise etc. Sure, it looks pretty and all and it works great, but it's the same reason why only 3% or whatever it is uses Linux. BECAUSE THEY SUCK IN THE LONG RUN. Photoshop? Audio? Editing? Fuck out of here, buy a better PC, or upgrade your shit, tools.
I've owned all Windows PC's and have only had a few issues. People that think PC's suck are people that have either: A.) Had bad luck with their PC's (hey, it happens kids, get over it, products fail or break sometimes, it's life) B.) Could not figure out their shit, therefore we are infested with Viruses, Malawares, all that garbage that the knowledgeable PC owner protects him/herself from. C.) Are jumping on some bandwagon or have been hypnotized by weak ads by Apple that show two people acting the parts of PC and MAC, pointing out the weakness of the PC. FUCKING LAME. Mac OS is simple, no wonder these people love it so much. I use a computer to be engaged by it, I want to do slightly complex things and fast, like most people. I wanna that prog I bought, or whatever I want to be able TO RUN IT. You argue : "but what about Boot Camp, you can run XP on the Mac Book!" - Uh what's the point? I'll pick up the nicer looking VAIO TX series thanks, I could give a fuck about your shiny plastic MAC, I want compatibility with my notebook! What about games too? Damn. There's other shit that's shitty about Apple too, but that's another thread for another time. I just hate the way morons who have been sucked into the hype and novelty aspect of these notebooks/computers and then defend them to the deaf. I know you motherfuckers have used Windows before, it must have been something you or a friend did to make you hate it. My shit runs great, for years, I look after my computers and they reward me by not dying or whatever (also backing up stuff is a great idea). You look after your laptop/PC and you should be okay people, don't be girls. VAIO's, etc rock, fuck MacBooks. Also what the fuck is up with the prices of this junk???? |

Also, just to add, the world runs on Windows. "But the MAC is kinda obscure!", not it's not, everyone knows what a MAC is, yet businesses, corporations, the people that run the world use Windows. If MAC was so great why the fuck do they have 5% of computer users the world over???! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |

you bring some valid point to the table. By the way a, b, c do not apply to me. I just want to clarify that I am simply looking into the mac route, not say that I am going buy one. I agree, compatibility seems to be a major issue.....but answer me this, what are the current compatibility "issues" that are of concern on the latest macbook? Which programs specifically, because I currently dont know of any. As far as the gaming issue, windows obviously takes the cake. No argument there. I recently "test drove" my friends macbook, I believe it was the lastest model.....I had know problems figuring out the gui |

Nothing wrong with the GUI, I was saying that it was simple and easy, and a no-brainer for idiots. They look good, and are over-priced. |
I laugh so hard when PC Users use the tired old excuse "the software for the Mac is limited".
First off, you're clueless, since Macs now run Windows XP, there is not a single piece of software you can't run. Second off, just because your lame ass software company doesn't have a Mac version, it doesn't mean that there is not another company that makes probably a better product that runs on the Mac that does the same exact thing if not more. Find me a single program that doesn't run on Mac and I will find you one that does the same exact thing, is probably cheaper, and probably works better. |

Gotta love Vista.... rips off many mac features and from what I have read, it sucks. As far as software goes, there is only one program that I use that there is no mac version for and it is our call center CRM viewing software. Meanwhile, the PCs in our office constamtly have software and hardware problems while the macs run great ALWAYS. The Windows operating system is a joke, always has been, The Mac OS blows it away.
Mitch p.s. I am not a gamer, I am a businessman, so I have no opnion on how good or bad the Mac is for playing games. |
And by the way, my Macbook pro runs both the Mac OS and Winblows if I need it to.
Mitch |
I have a black macbook and run windows on it also... no probs and it looks sexyyyyy :thumbsup
|
lol... I am not going to argue that you should do anything.
BUT! I have constant problems with my windows machine since day 1. and fyi I run xp on a 2ghz intel machine. Sure Mac is simple, but no offense I don't need my computer giving me blowjobs... I just need it to do what I ask it to do without bullshit interference. With my experience Mac has been better. If you want to play games then get a PC, but I am here to make money and yahoo pool is good enough for the time being. Yes it is more expensive, but you will get an extra 3 months tacked on to your life because you don't have to deal with the bs of XP or the new Vista. But thats my opinion, if you (SantaCruz) can't handle opinions then gfy. |
They're pretty much the same hardware these days so it doesn't really matter. You can run windows on a mac and osx on a pc.

About every cool feature in Vista is copied from OSX.. Why are there so many skins for XP that tries to copy the look and feel of OSX? Anyway, it's true that there are much less apps, but untill now i didnt miss any app so far.. there is enough to be able to do all the work i want on my Macbook pro. I have both PC and Mac.. loving hem both.. |
Quote:
I run them in Parallels vor MAC.. works fine. but yes, you are right, they dont work nativaly in OSX.. I hope they will port them to OSX some day.. |
Quote:
Yes, OSX is far better than XP or Vista.. and it has always been better and more logical than any MS OS.. Now that Apple dissed IBM as proccessor supplier and started to use Intel you see that many people are doing the switch to MAC.. they became cheaper and you can still run XP if you really need to. Apple Mac's do sell and you will see that more and more software developers start porting their PC stuff to OSX as well. MAC is back! :-) |
Just this week I made " the switch " to mac.
Never looking back. Vista is here , And I figured I'd be changing systems soon, Might as well go OS X ..no way I was doing another 5 or ten years with micro shit. |
SantaCruz's post doesn't even deserve replies. This guy knows fuck all about macs and logic in general. period.
|
got both mac and pc notebooks.. pc's still what i like better.. sorry to the mac users here but mac interface just irritates me.. :(
wifey loves the mac though.. :winkwink: |
I like windows based laptops... more apps can work :pimp

GUYS...THE MAC VS. PC DEBATE HAS BEEN OVER FOR YEARS
both are good solid machines that both have problems and both are excellent, when they each want to be Ihave both sitting here and I honestly can tell you which I like better, because each has it's own use stop being 3rd graders when people ask "should I get a mac or pc" and instead tell that person "try both, and whichever you enjoy the most, get!" jesus |
