No, your old Mac is totally obsolete. There really is not compairision as the Macbook pro LAPTOP actually blows the fastest G5 workstation out of the water. The new CS3 is aimed directly at the Intel Chipset mac's.

I was never impressed with mac performance in the past, it's only recently with the introduction of the intell chips where this has changed. There is even talk now of using the upcoming QUAD core chip inside the Macbook pro.

There is no comparison between the Intel based Mac and a Windows machine. Opps. a Mac can run Windows both native mode or under parallels emulation. So a Mac is a GUI BSD Unix machine that actually works out of the box with an excellent Unix based OS and also can run Windows if necessary.

There is no contest, two machines in one case.

3 months ago I had the choice between a suped up PC laptop or a Macbook Pro.

I went with the Macbook Pro and haven't looked back. My next desktop will be a Mac Pro.

I have Vista running with Parallels but only use it when I need to do Internet Explorer testing.

Why is a mac better?

The laptop feels complete...not like it was made in a factory and stuffed with a million different parts that may or may not work with each other once something gets deleted or goes wrong.
