I'm the moderator of the .XXX panel at xbiz. post your .xxx questions in here
Just released: http://www.xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=19457
"HOLLYWOOD, Calif. ? Brandon "Fight the Patent" Shalton, founder of T3 Report, has been chosen to moderate the .XXX seminar at next week's XBIZ Hollywood Conference, being held Wednesday and Thursday at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel." I will be presenting questions to the panel about .XXX in addition to audience participation. If you are not attending the show, feel free to post up your questions/concerns here or email me at brandon -at- fightthepatent.com so i can compile the questions. Questions like "which industry players are supporting .XXX?" are not the kinds of questions that will get asked and answered. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the .XXX registration process, what impact it has on the industry, what .XXX can do, what .XXX can't do, who gets first shot at domains, etc. I've got 2+ years worth of questions in my mind to ask as well as other people's questions. Fight the 2 cents! |
Great choice for a moderator!

1. Why is it that ICM Registry continues to pursue the TLD when its very clear that nobody wants it?
2. Wouldn't it make more sense to set aside a safe place for kids on the internet as oppossed to trying to make the internet safe for kids? A .kid domain would easily accomplish this? 3. Why exactly are these domains being sold at such a high price. who is getting the "donations" , administrative fees etc. What is the breakdown? (assuming they refer to them) 4. Who is going to make up this IFFOR Board and how are those people chosen, who will draft the rules etc. 5. Do you anticipate legal hurdles from the US Department of Commerce or Department of Justice? 6. If I own domain.com ans someone else owns domain.net who gets first shot at domain.xxx? theres a few off the top of my head...... |
I would like to know what will happen to all our traffic we have all worked so hard to build up
google ranks, bookmarkers, typins, toplists EVERYTHING on our .com's what do they plan on doing "IF this gets passed " which i dont think it will. .................................................. ............. I could just picture it Sorry sir, but we are taking everything you have, here is a .xxx we are sorry that you have to start over Here is a welfare check till you can get your .xxx going ( which btw could be blocked in half the world ) .................................................. ............. PS: XXXJay - We ALL saw how big your new house is, we are all moving in if it comes down to that :winkwink: |

But, I think we know the answers to 1, 2 and 3: 1) greed 2) not enough money in it (greed) 3) greed |
Copied from my post on the other side:
"When blood-suckers like you go to sleep in their fiendish coffins at night, is it actually necessary for some purpose that you sleep in such a contraption, or is this solely an invention of Hollywood?" "Why didn't your mother have an abortion? Assuming she regrets this now, do you have any concerns she'll attempt a one-hundred fortieth trimester abortion, post-birthing?" "Would you sell you grandmother into slavery for a nickel? Or, rather, did you already?" "Did you begin the quest for .XXX because you have a small penis? Assuming so, if the industry pitched in for an operation, will you go away?" And my final question: "Since this panel has been convened based on the preconception that .XXX is to pass, it's probably fair to also assume that, if passed, legislation will soon follow that forces U.S. adult webmasters onto the TLD. In some cases, webmasters invested tens of thousands of dollars building traffic and brand to their dot-com properties. Even excluding the impact to the brand directly, these webmasters will lose the benefits of money spent on search engine optimization, advertising, link placements, and a host of other expenditures. Many sponsor programs will never convert all of their affiliate links from .com to .XXX. What do you say to those who stand to lose a large sum based on your irresponsibility and thinly veiled greed?" |
Good luck Brandon.... We'll be there!!!
|
too many letters...do not overpower...
|
.XXX domains require a verification of an email address before the domain can be approved. (http://www.icann.org/tlds/stld-apps-19mar04/xxx.htm section E)
What will be the WHOIS policy for .XXX domains? Will there be privacy options with the registry? Fight the whois spamming! |

There is an issue where that topic is clearly of commercial interest since webmasters may elect to terminate dealing with these alleged "industry players" for obvious reasons. |

Meanwhile... can you volunteer a valid commerical reason why it should not be asked Brandon? Transparency is healthy... |

This is like the people that cry that the welfare line is too long. Don't be a fucking scumbag freeloader. I had some measure of respect for you previously, but the more you poke and prod and make a fool of yourself, the less I seem to want to associate with you. You're becoming a joke, and it's sad to see, because you seemed to intelligent. if you REALLY can't figure your question out for yourself, I feel bad for you. If you CAN, which I suspect, don't pull a baddog and ask a question you know the answer to just for the sake of being a dick. No offense, baddog. |
Are you willing to accept offers to sneak in some device that could in theory kill the targeted person and if so what is the ball park figure that must be raised?
Ok I jest, I am fairly sure you have most of the questions covered. Unless your willing to just ask them are they idiots? |

Why do you assume so much that people are not attending this show?? Try staying out of this and let Brandon answer. |

If you WERE attending, you'd just be a troll for asking what you did. Are you a troll, or are you just a retard? Pick one, this is multiple choice. And if you'd like a private audience with Sir Brandon, you may e-mail him. If you choose to continue to discourse here, I will continue to make fun of you, until I get hungry, at which point I will forget all about you, eat, masturbate, and sleep. |

Still waiting.... |

I will accept the following: A) "I'm sorry Edge." B) "I love you, Edge." C) Paypal. D) Naked pictures. Pick one or more. |

because it is an obvious question that won't get answered. all correspondance to ICANN is published on their website with the exception of the letters of endorsement by industry players. and those that did give their support in secret, obviously were concerned about some retailiation measures, otherwise they should have held their ground as mike south had said, if you support .xxx then stand up to it. There are alot more issues to have transparency on concerning the rules and policies of .XXX which have been quite mirky to date. Fight the man behind the curtain! |
Quote:
transparency is healthy when it comes to public policy, but for a private company, some of their inside business issues are not revealed. You can ask lawley what his sexual preference is while at it, but that doesn't do anything towards understanding the ramifications of a .XXX If there was a list of those involved, would it matter about .xxx? NO, what would happen is people would make talk about boycotting those companies, cutting of traffic deals in some kind of retaliation for which doesn't address the .XXX issues. I am not defending those that sold out the industry, i am just being practical for the scope of the panel discussion to understand what is the impact of .XXX We all have our minds made up either for or against the idea of .XXX, the panel is not a debate nor will it change many minds. The point is if/when ICANN approves it, better to know what it means to have or not have a .XXX then continue with speculation (which i admit i have done my fair share of). Fight the clarification! |
Some questions to ponder :
Since .XXX is the only content-based TLD there is, will there be a requirement to prove 2257 documentation? (recent domain registar and isp asking for 2257 documents of a website are showing some precedent for this) Are certain domain names going to be off limits like FamilyResearchCouncil.xxx ? or Christians.xxx or muslims.xxx or buddhalovers.xxx ? How are the board seats elected? How is the 1 or 2 seats for adult selected? For those purchasing a .XXX domain, will they be allowed to just park the domain and not use it? Will a TOS be that it has to be live and operational? Who gets to register the .XXX domain, if there are similar domains with current different extensions (ie. .com, .net. .co.uk, .jp, etc) $10/domain goes to IFFOR which will then give grants to child protection organizations. Will organizations that are known to be against porn, but of child protection missions be receiving .XXX money? What will prevent a rate increase on the subsequent years? Fight the T&A! |

Will think on this ;-) |
For those that want to dig down into the details to address specific issues of .XXX (and to help me get through all the documentation to find some additional questions), you can review the recently submitted .XXX agreeement at:
http://www.icann.org/announcements/a...nt-05jan07.htm This page includes changes that ICM made to appease various ICANN/GAC member countries over their concerns of .XXX Fight the bedtime reading! |
