Australia donates US$765MILLION
Thats a huge ammount for a country with about 20 mil population
For the US to match it on a per capita basis they would have to donate about US$8BILLION!! - Thats not a dig at the US BTW... The UK has been even worse Its pretty impressive :thumbsup |
Damn that's a lot indeed. Nice.
|
wow, crazy... that's pretty damn awesome!

Yeah but think how much it is costing the US to get all out ships over there and all the helicopter flights it's adding up to a lot more than anybody. I just hope the money goes to where it's needed it's very corrupt over there,...Great job by the aussies...

Get ready for 6 months from now when the media talks about how none of the money went to any victims and how it was just stolen by the Asian governments so they could create golden toilets in their castles. Will you then be sad they raised your taxes even higher?
:1orglaugh |

Imagine if the world had paid for a warning system for those poorer countries. I can't imagine it would even cost $50 million. Need to be proactive, not reactive. I think the next few generations will realize this, I hope things won't be so horrible by then. Matt |
we australians are GENEROUS!!! :)
|
765 million over 5 years. But still very generous. :)

I know Canada mostly gave morale support but more than that would be dumb considering politics wise the US owes us a lot of money from lumber, ridiculous beef restrictions, and other things that breach the Free Trade Agreement. Of course Canada also let the planes land here, mostly Newfoundland, though the US thanked Nova Scotia (...), and spent a lot on increasing security on behalf of the US, well not only Canada, but everyone did. Do you think its free to send the ships and other support? Oh yeah the expense of those doesnt count huh? |
I am guessing that they realize how they would have been devistated by something like this, and know that if it ever happens to them, they dont want people saying that they did not help on this one. But either way, two thumbs up for Aussies.

Good job Australia,
... and people what is all this competing about? Does it really matter who gives the most? Like some one said, I am sure USA will in the end give the most, but that is what should be expected from the largest economy in the world! |
Its really fucking pathietic how giveing needy countries aid has become a bidding war with some people. these people should pull there head out of there ass and relize is not how much you send or help.. the simple fact is that area of the world needs help right now in any form. :ugone2far
