Rappers and OnStage Entourages? WTF?

i never really got this whole thing of the entourage of 50 nobodys on the stage with the big time rapper.

i mean, are these all the guys that the dude grew up with before he was big jsut taking up space on the stage?

i was just looking at some footage of concert. i couldn't even fucking see nelly because the stage was full of dudes tying to get some airtime.

if i wasn't the main star, i would feel like a loser up there. how do they justify themselves to go out on stage and share the spotlight? blows my mind. entourages are a security nightmare and a logisitcs headache. what is the value to the artist?

Fake Nick 10-11-2004 09:29 AM

me and my crew !

candyflip 10-11-2004 09:29 AM

If they didn't pay those guys to do nothing, they'd have their asses beat and they'd end up with nothing.

The whole rap/hip hop thing is getting pretty retarded. This bling/ice and the clothing and the rims and bitches and shit is getting so boring. You have to realize though that most of they hip hop dudes arent exactly the smartest people around. That in combination with fame and money does weird things to a person.

xclusive 10-11-2004 09:32 AM

I think that they are there to cover up the fact that a lot of these guys outside the studio where they can mix shit aren't really that good...

EvilMichelle 10-11-2004 09:38 AM

So very true! LOL! LOL!

I think it's just a pact they make to their homeboys that if any of them come up...Then they ALL come up...They all get put on the payroll..

These people just like to live in the limelight of someone elses dream. What they need to do is get up off their muthafuckin asses and start pursuing dreams of their own.

It will be a rude fucken awakening when there rich and famous friends gets fed up of supportin' their dumb lazy asses or GETS SHOT....again.

ha ha then they'll have to get a real job!

seeric 10-11-2004 09:39 AM

aaah, the'yre a diversion from the fact that most of the talent sucks outside the studio?

i can feel that. its just fucking silly to me.

*stage standing guy talking to mom before a rap show*

"mamma i tol you, i cant take you to da market, cuz i gots to stand on stage wit nelly today"

*mamma*

"you go on wit yo bad self baby! you is comming up in the world!"

*guy*

"yeah momma, its lookin up fo me lately. next month they might let me clean off the microphones"

with that many people on a stage like that, it is so easy to kick a cable out of a direct box, or damage something electronic. not to mention, it completely turns any kind of video footage of the actual artist into garbage. what a mess. LOL.

EvilMichelle 10-11-2004 09:50 AM

He he he...so funny, so true.
Yea most of the music now a days is crap! It's more about fulfilling an image...

yu know what though, theres a market out their for a lot of that garbage...just tell everybody you got shot nine times, and they'll buy your record! haha

I don't even have cable and i'm so shamefully shocked half the time IF i turn on the radio...Waste of time...Waste of $$$

im not dissing on the talent, well, maybe a little, they're the ones who let them all up there, im dissin on the people trying to be on stage and look important.

some of the faces that the entourage guys put on are funny too, judging from the nelly concert im looking at. they actually think they are stars too.

hehe. just my 2 cents and a funny thing to point out i guess.

ytcracker 10-11-2004 10:50 AM

i dont get it either
one or two hype men is ok

pornguy 10-11-2004 10:54 AM

The rap today is total shit.

I have never heard so much music ( if that is what you want to call it, ) that the people talk about how much money they have. Or how sweet their ride is. Etc.

They should put the people in the entourage in tuxedos and distrubute them on the stage as if they were a big band, except they won't do anything but "put they hands in the air" and wave towels around.

Bone was still there. Was an awesome show actually. Every individual / group performed, then Bone, then Bone and some of the others did some stuff together. Damn near all of em sounded good too.

Sounds like they musta got their shit together...
Back in the day when they first came out I wasn't really a big fan, but a friend of mine went to one of their concerts. He told me that they were all toe the fuck up. They couldn even stand. They were just all layin on the stage, rappin' with their mic's in their hands kickin their feet up in the air! Plenty of people just bounced cause they were so shit.

gotcha. im trying to think of a group that broke up and then one of the nobodies in the group went on to do a solo act and tried to ride the name out. it was horrible to say the least. damn i've killed some brain cells over the years, so help me if anyone knows.

it was a failry decent sized rap posse.

I can name one that tried riding his shitty fame and that's Ton Loc. Saw him a few years ago and he brought his cousins on stage with a boombox. Turned on the boombox with a prerecorded tape of his shit and proceeded to rap. :1orglaugh

LOL

yeah, and just recently, joe budden came to san diego. the promoters only got about 20 people to the show in a building that holds 3500. the entourage on stage was more people than the audience. it looked so bad. no one in san diego knows or cares who joe budden is. the entourage was on stage acting like it was the biggest thing they ever did. maybe it was. then joe budden came out and got on the mic and said "fuck san diego" and they left. LOL

Ton Loc was bitching about his promoters as well. Took like an extra hour to come out and said he "liked the intimate crowd anyhow". Tools. :1orglaugh

I got BG's new album "Life after Cash Money" and as one of the most lyrical rappers I have ever heard I sat down to see what new stories he was going to tell me. Listening carefully it came to me just why some of the guys here do not like rappers. I see a lot of guys talking about how retarded rapping about drugs, bitches, fucking, money, cars and disrespecting women when it dawned on me.

They are talking about the same shit most of the people here do, INCLUDING the people who are complaining. If you look around here you see pics of big rims on cars, expensive cars, hot chics, talks about how many women you fucked, disrespect of talent/models/party girls and of course drugs. The differance is you KNOW the rappers are doing it and making way more money and sleeping with hot chics and not having to pay for it or call it an "interview" :1orglaugh

How hypocritical is it to be in the porn industry and exploit women for money and then turn around and condemn a rapper for REALLY doing what our industry portraits. Do you smell that *sniff sniff* smells like HATER, Don't hate the player, hate the game.

CONGRATS!

Big Rick 10-11-2004 12:14 PM

They should all take a lesson from MC hammer. he tried to bring all his friends with him, and went from 40 million in the bank to preaching on late night christian networks.

Then again there is more money in jesus than in all other industries combined. the words prophet and profit go hand in hand. So MC hammer may be on the right path now.

Kimmykim 10-11-2004 12:25 PM

Interesting too that Mase and Kanye West are doing really well right now, and they're both talking about Jesus and God and not being a gangster.

yep. the power of positive music. there are others. black eyed peas and the roots to name a few, that have made it in hip hop and rap, that don't need to rap about the bling. loosely stated as well, the fugees and wyclef. wyclef has gotten a little into the bling thing as of late, but hasn't sold out in my book.

Amen.

You can only rhyme so much about your rims, your whip, your crib, your bitches, your cash money, your bling and how hard you are. It's old now and I do respect the few that are rapping about other shit.

I can almost see the director explaining to these thugs about this great ground breaking idea for a video... "picture this" he says.... "your at a club, everything is slow motion, models dancing all around, your popping bottles and all your homeboys are there, ice all over your wrists and necks, cars pulling up out from in slow motion with rims spinning... saturated colors and lots of bright lights... it will be the hottest video ever, totally original!"

And for the re-mix... R-Kelly can do a few lines and sign about the after party.

It's a hit.

jade_dragon 10-11-2004 12:52 PM

Thanks I do what I can ;) I have not been here long but alot of the "big boys" and I talk a lot and have pointed out to me who is real and who is fake. Being in business in the real world prior to this I learned how to read people well so I picked up on the hypocracy REAL quick here and have been posting things like this for a while and making people think about it.

I was real happy to see MA$E come back, I knew he had left over issues with the lifestyle and his return outside of Bad Boy probably has a lot to do with hold overs from his new cleaner life. Jesus walks is a great song but I do not think Kanye is pushing as hard as Mase, he seems to be more talking about how he knows things are wrong but does them anyway. Guess you gotta walk before you run.

Hammer spent a lot his boys but nowhere as hard as his management who he trusted way to much. But the church takes care of him now and he seemed pretty happy with his life when he was on that show Surreal life.
