this is definite because the guy told me when he registered for Internext I guess there was a place on the form where they want you to describe/name your company position and he made up some bogus title like head fluffer or some shit, remembers it distinctly, and sure enough whatever the bogus title he made up was, it's on the Acacia mailing he received.

Is a perk of Internext that anyone with a booth gets a copy of the sign ins?

Has anyone asked AVN about this?

I'm almost in denial. I hate to think that AVN 1) sells it's list to anyone 2) could let Acacia get a hold of our information

I don't think that Internext would give their list to Acacia. It is the most important asset they have as a TradeShow Company. More likely the list came from someone else, who may have purchased or made a deal for their list at some time in the past.

BTW - our Cybernet list is NOT for sale...... or trade, or anything else!

Me neither, never even been to a show, but I have signed up to recieve their magazine several times and eventually got one issue.

just got my letter in the mail today. Funny thing is, I have never had any videos, streamed any videos, owned any paysites, etc. They are barking up the wrong tree on this end..

get your tongue out of AVN's ass. It's possible AVN was duped into selling a list, not like Acacia would go 'Hey we're Acacia, we're out to rape the porn industry, how much for a list of the names and addresses of our next victims?'.

There is NO doubt where Acacia got my friend's info from, NONE, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH - unknowingly by making up a phoney title for himself my friend seeded that mailing list. How Acacia got the list - ask AVN who they've sold their list to or if somebody could have gotten their list through other means.

well I just got mine and I didn't go to internext.. I can't say for sure that I didn't fill out any forms on their page.. I can't remember did you have to sgin up to anything to view info about internext?

I kinda figure they got my info from the forums, however my sites are not listed on the letter... just my name.

This was briefly mentioned already but they could have got the information from scanning badges and/or buying a list from someone who was scanning badges.

When you fill out the form to get a badge all information that you give up is given to anyone that leases a badge scanner and pays for the information.

That would be why I have never put any information other than an email addy on there:)

This is getting way outta control! I need some real proof that AVN did that! Have your friends come forward and confirm what you said!

I worked for a computer parts wholesaler and when I just started, they had just comeback from comdex where they had a booth. I was given a print out of basically ever person that was at the show. I cold called on that list for a couple months, made some good $$ too . I think it was given to them for having a booth , internext maybe the same way or if it is a avn list maybe they sold it. They are a company here to make money, I spoke about this yesterday these adult newstype companies arent news sources they are marketing engines. Its business not personal.

Finally someone who is thinking on his feet. AVN offered scanners to the company I went to internext with last year. All the ID's had a bar code on it and if you wanted to rent the bar code scanner you could get a list of everyone that visited your booth.

Check your ID Badges for internext the bar code is there.

Not saying this is what happened but definetly a good lead on what could have happened.

Problem would be at this point it could have been any vendor there. :mad:

In fairness to AVN, I am editing this thread. AVN didn't hand over any lists, it could have been an exhibitor who was scanning badges. And I can guess who that would have been!
