Why do you live where you live?

Just curious....

had an amazing afternoon on the beach and it only reaffirmed how much I love this place. But it got me to wondering, why do people live where they live? There's basically four reasons.

1. Family.

2. Money (i.e. job)

3. Destitute / broke / can't escape.

4. You love it.

did I miss any? And what's your reason?

exactly. If not for the family aspect I would have hauled ass to NY la couple of years back...also coupled with the fact that us darkies are tropical people and hate snow and cold weather

hmmm.... that would be #5 then.... the ability & flexibility to move somewhere you want, but too apathetic to make it happen.

IF that's really the case..... are you sure you're not just using "lazy" as an excuse because of some family ties you can't bring yourself to break (or some other reason)?

BVF 07-12-2003 09:25 PM

my mama lives here...If she would be willing to move with me, I'd leave in a heartbeat.....

I just can't leave my momma....There's plenty of hoes around here to help feed me and the job situation around here is bleak...So I just exploit girls and help out my mom....

Brisbane, Australia.

It's only Brisbane and Amsterdam for me.

I guess I love them both.

I look at my brother, who will never leave where he's at... he has a combo of loving it and STRONG family ties... and yet, I can't help but think him insane on both counts.

I find it very interesting how people make these decisions.

3.

I was born here, could never afford to leave. Now I finally have enough money and I am out of here end of the month.

Thank you PORN! =o)

Kanoealoha 07-12-2003 09:31 PM

SO WISE GRANDMASTER

I am sure that COULD be a possibility but I could not really say...

I think I make enough for a good living... but then on the other hand my GF has a good job that I would not want her to give up on right now... aswell there is some family that is close to this location...

So I guess your theory could have truth... but I think that would require thinking to see if that WAS the case so again I will go back to I am to Lazy!

did I miss any? And what's your reason?

1. Family - I moved here to get away from them.

2. Money - I make the same wherever I go, wasnt a factor.

3. Destitute / broke / can't escape. - doesnt apply

4. You love it. - Exactly. I love the desert, the heat, the shit to do in Vegas.

school would be a good one, however, I was asking in the assumption that I was speaking to adults and not school kids. BUT, if you mean college, then yes... there's #6. :)

I dont think tornados are that much of an issue in Florida, I think it's the hurricanes that are the problem, and of course hurricanes are 1000x worse.

Overscore 07-12-2003 09:36 PM

Really excellent deal on a nice chunk of land. :)

I'd put that as a combo of love and money, and definately a love OF money. :)

Sammy4u 07-12-2003 09:38 PM

I live where I am cause I moved here and made a great living for myself while I was young. It was a great opportunity that I am glad I could take advatage of. Now I am done with this town and looking to move onto a more progressive area. So my house is on the market and I am moving to Vegas. I can't wait.

BlackCrayon 07-12-2003 09:39 PM

i live where i do basically because i was born here, friends are here, family. its a lot of hassle to move.. but i do plan to do it as i hate where i live, too small, too hickish, too boring. only 3000 ppl in this town for fucks sakes. rent prices are nice tho.

Toronto was my second choice but theres too much bullshit for moving there permanently as an American and running a business and not being a citizen and all that.
I love Toronto though

Yup!

415 is SF

707 is 60 miles north

Amputate Your Head 07-12-2003 09:50 PM

ahhh.... Vallejo / Fairfield (ish) :winkwink:

Gemini 07-12-2003 09:51 PM

Marcus, you'd better redo your homework. A hurricane 500 miles from you can and do spawn (dozens of) tornadoes right in your lap. lol Go to the weather page from the US Government and study their archives.

There are other reasons for staying someplace too. Like divorce screws your ability to buy a house when you get on in your 30's. So it takes time and stability in one place to rebuild that. And always being in one area can affect your thinking too.

that would fall under "unable to escape" wouldn't it?
