I live here because my husband wanted to move back here after just ONE year of ebing away...
I fuckin hate it here - i hate cold weather and I want to go live in Asia. We've come to a compromise and we're buying one house here and one house there - live the endless summer :thumbsup |

Is there? |
My family moved here. It was something my mom's side of the family had been planning for years. Now we're all here (Brisbane, Australia). I plan on staying here though. Got a few good friends and i enjoy it here. :winkwink:
|
Not really Amp. We had the wherewithal to move to begin with but his kids were both under 18 and we thought we should stay closer to them. So meantime we straighten out the divorce thing and then when his daughter hits 18 we head south to live a couple of hours from MY daughter who was already 18 when the old man and I hooked up.
We have the house and fairly close to having a total remodel done and paid off. ;-) So when we go, it will be with enough cash to pay for another house up front. Besides the fact that we have everything either of us could or want to do within an hour of us. All the big music groups pass thru here too. Unemployment rarely goes over about 2.5%, reasonable cost of living, you name it. :) |
i moved back to toronto to look for a job. if i can get my green card i'll be off to new york. :)
|
I live here for many reasons..
My parents and brother live nearby, but my extended family is all in the South. The cost of living is tolerable. I'm an hour from the mountains and about 75 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. I enjoy the climate. Not too hot and not too cold. |

I'm fuckin stuck. I hate this place, and as soon as I get a niofty amount of cash saved up (which will probably be about the same time I get my degree) I'm OUT of here. |
We live in AZ primarily for my husband's job...he got a really good job offer, and it was high time we left Texas, so we went. The fact that it puts us 1000's of miles away from family -- both mine and his -- is wonderful. Families like ours are best loved from a LOOONG distance.
I'm not thrilled with the heat, but it doesn't matter to me where we live, really, as long as it's not a big city. I'm agoraphobic, so it matters not what the world outside looks like, my world is what's inside my apartment walls. |

New York City is where I live.

Work - all my offline biz associates are here, LA, Miami & London. I like NY best.

24 Hours - I'm a night owl. I'm going to meet a friend for a quick drink at 3am. I love it!
Fast - You can't beat the energy here. People here are highly motivated and you can feel it in the air.
The Best - Of everything. Restaurants, bars, culture, etc.
When I settle down and get married (or old) I won't need # 2 so I might move to LA or Miami. The only thing I don't have that I miss are beach views and ocean breezes. I have to settle for my little view of the East river. :( |

6. The Water 7. The weather 8. Family |
family is a reason.
summertime is great here plus it's real cheap to live here so my money goes a LOT further - bigger home cheap - cheap entertainment - better standard of living with the funds I have |
sorry... this is a fascinating thread.... (to me anyway).... I dig hearing the reasons people choose (or don't choose in some cases) where they live....
but I must abandon you for the BBQ grill and beer at this point.... but I'll read later. :) |

You did miss another reason that I think is a given 5. Weather/climate: I like it warm but not humid...this is the perfect place for that... PS: today was a great day for BBQ & beer....watched some nice summer monsoons roll over, great lightening show from the 2nd floor & backyard... |

Started out as Family (1). Then businesses (2). For years I had 'grass is greener' syndorme but then it turned into: 'this aint bad at all' ... a definate 4 seasons and very few laws, hell even beastiality is legal here. (4)
In fact, we used to have a few sheep fuckers down the road, i'm sure of it. |
Family.

I am one of those few people that love LA. I lived for 8 years in San Diego and loved it as well! It was an awesome place to live. But here in LA is great too! The weather, always somethihg going on, beautiful people. Right now I am way happy here!
|
You San Diego people.... fill me in here.... I've been to SD maybe.... oh, 12 times? And I either missed the good stuff, or didn't know where to go.... been to Oceanside, and Escondido an alot of the industrial areas...
where is the hot spot there? (I may want to visit) |
fits under 3 or your categories, timeline wise consider it a 4.

I born in Colorado and that is still where I live. It is very nice here but I seriously need to live on the ocean or at least near it. Hopefully someday that will be possible. Mainly just saving so someday I can move to the ocean. I have a ton of friends here so I guess that also keeps me here.

I love Florida because it is tropical, wealthly lifestyle, beautiful, just the right balance of population - not too much, but enough to keep things exciting, everything possible to see and do, being near the ocean, everyone is relaxed and chilled out, friendly, top restaurants and a variety of all kinds of food, great prices, lots of Net businesses and tech companies here, no state taxes, no traffic jams, and its sunny. :) :thumbsup
Oh how could I forget, some of the most beautiful women on the planet to top it off. |
I live in a small town in N. GA. because:
1) Lived in the burbs of Atlanta for 25 years and it got too crowded 2) I like not having to worry about crime 3) Fresh air and water 4) beautiful scenery 5) ZERO traffic jams 6) It's still close enough to Atlanta (1.5 hours) where if I need shopping, good restaurants, airport, etc. I can get them 7) It's far enough away but still close to my family. Eventually I want to buy a few hundred acres out west in the REAL middle of no where. I have no visable neighbors now and I love it - but I want even MORE seclusion. :winkwink: |
B-A-N-C-R-O-F-T Ontario Canada. It's backwoods, backwards, but beautiful, and it's awesome for the kids.... I'd like to move to Toronto or someplace when they're older, but in the meantime this is a safe place for them to live their younger years, and it's close to the family.

I love it here

Poland - Been stuck here for some time waiting for the Polish police and the prosecution service to make a descision on taking SunnyDollars to court for hacking my stats pages at ccbill - And for cheating me out of 2 domains.
Now the (sort of Polish fbi?) have taken things over and I am told things are looking good my end. Hopefully will move back to the Uk soon, or maybe Spain, for a change. |

I live in Colorado because I love the mountains, the 4 seasons, family and friends.
although I do love the ocean as well, but not at much as I love mountains. Not to mention CO is a hot heat, no humidity here. :thumbsup |
