I've watched his debates and he has repeatedly said 10 billion or so. 200 billion if done by cruz or another politician.
|
Just build it with illegal aliens and it will cost the fraction of it.

It's all right there in the vids his own words.. However this doesn't include making roads to all these far off locations, the legal costs of stealing the required land from American citizens to build it on.. ect ect which is why the real world estimate is closer to 25 billion. |

He said that the wall would cost 10 billion but could be done for 4 if it was done by the right people. The cost has now increased to 12 billion which is an 800,000 increase on his previous forcast. |
Even if it is 25 billion we'd still save money not paying for welfare and jail space for illegal aliens.
|
Illegal immigrants cost us 100 billion a year. So we'd save money.

So right off the bat your 100 billion just got cut in half.. Now how about those ladders, tunnels and ropes... Then add in the extra 25 bil every 7 years to upkeep the wall, roads ect.. That's another 4 bil down the drain each year and it will grow more as time goes on and more repairs are needed. |
cut off the demand. no need for a wall.

Advanced Concrete Foundations, Inc. - Poured Concrete Walls, Slabs, Waterproofing and Repair - Walls and Footings Pricing For sake of argument... the wall would need to have some type of sensor for when they try to scale it. That would certainly cost money. And surveyors and engineering costs money. But I just can't see how it would end up anywhere close to $4,000 per linear foot (close to 25 billion dollar mark) for everything including dirt roads being created. |

Next you don't mention anything of roads, getting the materials there ect.ect.. all this "forgotten" stuff balloons the costs dramatically.. |

What does anyone in the media know about construction of a 35 foot wall? The answer is nothing, and it's not a complicated project. It just is long which many people simply can't grasp. |

Initial cost and repairs $25B + $25B * (10 / 7) = $60.7B Difference: +$439.3B If you are going to entertain the math argument, at least TRY to make sense. |

No, I don't want to watch a 20 minute video from a comedian I don't think is funny. My comment was about border property and the owners welcoming a wall/security, which they will. |

I would think some type of sensor system would have to be included though. Shit, just throw some barb wire at the top, certainly would be a deterrent. I'm sure that extra $3/foot won't kill the budget. |
Current fence in El Paso, that's Mexico on the other side. The mighty Rio Grande River and one of the many Border Patrol trucks you see here everyday.

another critical detail is that the $100B someone posted earlier is for ALL immigrants, Mexico accounts for perhaps 25% of immigration to the US... |

Anyway, I totally disagree with building a wall. In my opinion it's un-American. When I was in school we were taught that the Berlin Wall represented everything evil in this world. And for the last few years our govt. has been talking about building one. :( Now we have Trump wanting to build one (and I believe so do the rest of the Republican candidates?). Mexico was an open border since there was a border. The ONLY problem we have with that border is the United States' insistence on an international "War On Drugs". Our Federal Govt. sent the DEA and military down into Columbia and disrupted and destroyed the Columbian Cocaine Cartels. The result? Mexican drug lords filled that vacuum and violence erupted on our borders. All of the violence and crime is being caused by the War On Drugs. The results of Drug Prohibition are the same as the ones that happened in Alcohol Prohibition of the 1920's. Crime, violence, and criminal organizations becoming insanely wealthy. That's what happens when the govt. decides IT has the power to make choices for people. It didn't work with alcohol. It hasn't worked with drugs. Stop the stupid drug laws and get the govt. out of our lives. There won't be any "problems" at the border after that. |

It's a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Trump has figured something out...make waterhead mouthbreathers feel secure, and then you will secure their vote.
But here is where his strategy is grossly misdirected: RealClearPolitics - Election 2016 - General Election: Trump vs. Clinton |

You know what? It's even ridiculous to entertain the brain farts of Donald Trump with any kind of debate or reasoning. His face should just be laughed at whenever he brings up this idiotic, wasteful idea which like his presidency --- will NEVER FUCKING HAPPEN. And all you suckers who want to have his baby are really pathetic. I could almost feel sorry for you, but you don't deserve sympathy for making such a dumb choice. |

The other argument is that our immigration system can weed out any convicted criminals coming in. And I will say this much...I know a lot of Mexicans. And yeah, I know that there are a percentage of lazy fucks in all communities... But the Mexican people are some of the hardest working people you will ever find. |
Just heard on the news today that the border patrol when they catch someone crossing the border, they just release them, please tell me where this is not a problem

I didn't say if I liked the wall idea or not, but the rhetoric surrounding the inflated cost of wall is ludicrous. 4k+/ft for a 35 foot wall, lol Inflating the cost of both steel and concrete because of it... for the entire nation... lolol |
For those of you still loving the idea of a wall yet not watching the video, here's a quick recap.
Trump has seriously under-estimated the cost of building the wall, and over-played its value. Besides materials, roads have to be built to transport them. Besides the initial cost of the Wall which by some estimates is 12 to 15 billion, there are huge ("Yuuugee"?) costs to maintain the wall later. 50% of all illegal immigrants arrive in the US by plane, not by sneaking across the border. No, Mexico will not pay for the wall. The trade deficit is not with the government of Mexico, it's with private businesses (Sheese!). The money to build the great Wall O'Trump will come out of tax payer pockets. The only thing the wall will do in the end is create a market for ladders. Even if you don't like Comedian John Oliver, you should still watch the video as I'm sure I've left lots of things out. |
