Letter From A Manwin Employee
from
http://www.mikesouth.com Have at it Dear Mike South, As an employee of the massive porn company Manwin aka ?Mindgeek?, I read your blog almost every day. Most of my colleagues do as well. As you know, conditions for employees here have taken a huge hit and, as you predicted, our Christmas bonuses have been withheld. All the negative impacts have created a huge sense of disparity and injustice within the employee community. Morale is at an all-time low, and management keeps sending us letters full of empty thanks for our dedication and efforts, and reminding us not to speak with media. In retaliation to all the shit we are being fed, I would like to forward to you an open letter to be addressed to the new owners of our company. I think it would be at least a small consolation for the many employees here who read your blog to see someone standing up to this harsh treatment in some small way. I will obviously remain anonymous to avoid being the next victim of ?layoffs? Dear Mr. Antoon and Mr. Tassillo, I send the following letter in anonymity to avoid being unfairly penalized for speaking the truth on a sensitive matter. I have been a hard working employee at Mindgeek for some time, and have felt my efforts have been fairly acknowledged in the past. However I have quickly become disenchanted with this company immediately following it?s change of ownership. This recent disappointment has come into sharp focus after the last email I received from management this year. The email echoed similar attitudes taken up in previous messages sent after M100, exorbitantly thanking us all for our dedication and ensuring us that we are of value. However there has been an excess in flattering words, and a great lack of actual recognition of our work as of late. It?s all fine and dandy to prattle on and on about how our contribution has allowed the company to be so successful, how ?each individual is important to the company? and thank us for our hard work. But the austerity measures and cuts we have had to endure without so much as an apology or even an explanation are leaving a very bad taste in our mouths. I speak for my colleagues when I say we work very hard for this company because we are treated well, and are rewarded for our extra efforts. But it seems that is not the future plan for Mindgeek employees. Watching a huge amount of colleagues laid off, and having our breaks cut by 1/3 each day, which we need to refresh our minds and keep us sharp; was bad enough. But withholding our Christmas bonus without a warning, leaving us in the dark so that we are expecting it and budget our Christmas accordingly, and then are surprised at the end of the month with no bonus and a huge hole in our finances; without so much as an apology or even a humble explanation ? this is beyond what I had imagined this management capable of. It is deplorable and completely lacks any dignity or respect for us. You insult our intelligence by throwing fancy Christmas parties with shiny draw prizes in hopes it will make us forget about our declining conditions, and add insult to injury as you continue to send us emails full of empty thanks and hollow good wishes. All this is particularly abhorrent in the light of the Christmas season approaching, one of generosity and goodwill ? as it seems; only for the upper management. I am not the only one who faces my future employment here with apprehension. After watching how many negative changes were implemented within only the last few months, I dread how quickly all our other benefits will soon dissolve; and the employees of Mindgeek will be just another mass of under-appreciated nine-to-fivers working for another huge corporation just like the rest of the thankless, high-turnover companies in Montreal. It will be sad to see the day when your loyal employees grow tired of empty praise and move on to a company that gives them actual recognition for their efforts and talents. I hope you all think of the dedicated workers whose holidays you have spoiled as you enjoy your Christmas vacations. Sincerely, Your Loyal Employees. |
What part of "Bonus" does he not understand? oh and if this is a real letter I don't feel sorry for the employees at all anyhow.

happy holidays ho ho ho :smilie_we

Pete - I apologize I forgot about those of you educated in public schools that have the attention span of gnat and the intellectual ability to match.

Instead of a xmas bonus they got the xmas boner in the pooper.
This brings 2 stories to mind: 1 about chickens hatching another 1 with Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid |

it's extremely poorly written. |
Sadly this is what happens when people don't treat a bonus as a bonus.

Just because someone gets a bonus one year, that doesn't mean they will get one the following year and shouldn't depend on said bonus arriving. |
Meanwhile manwin/Mindgeek is moving all the tubesites it owns to Homg Komg. Interesting move.

Perhaps this letter says a bit more about some mindgeek employees than mindgeek itself. |

Many companies offer bonuses and is part of employee contract. Those bonuses reflect the success of the department, or company as a whole.
When employees expect these bonuses it says the company is doing well. When lay offs occur, qnd bonuses stop, it shows the company is not doing well. Regardless how poorly written the letter is, it is easy to read between the lines. |
sounds like a staff rationalization is in order ...
|
going by how poorly written the letter is, it was a low-level employee who wrote it. i'm not sure of many businesses that do contracts including bonuses with those employees.

In defense of Manwin employees it seems you are all focusing on the "bonus" it should be noted that all of the upper level management got bonuses.
but lets not forget all the layoffs this year, and the fact that management has increased the daily work hours with no increase in pay or benefits. I would also point out that a large part of the successful management of a company, particularly a large one, is managing the expectations of your employees as well as your customers. I for one hope it turns into a full scale revolt because unlike many of you I am not sucking manwins ass in hopes of getting a peanut. They are crooks plain and simple and whatever contributes to their demise is pretty much OK by me...Karma and all that ya know. |
I am sorry, but this is ridiculous. As someone who works for Manwin (MindGeek) and has been in the adult business for over 20 years I have to comment. I had meetings with them last summer where they told me that they were going to slightly cut back the budgets on Babes.com and that was going to impact my income. I wasn't happy about it. Did I come online and complain about it? Of course not. It was perfectly logical given the marketplace and I did what any sensible business person would do. I looked for additional work to supplement my income. Times are tough in most industries right now and especially in Adult. We all know that and still choose to work in it. We CHOOSE to.
This “employee” is a perfect example of the type of person I would never hire. They are a complainer and feel entitled. I am sure that the important people that Manwin wanted to keep got taken care of. That is called business. Bonuses are just that. Extra gifts for the most important people in the profit of the company. A company that is making less than projected should give everyone bonuses? I mean they are already paying you to work there, right? If this employee that wrote this letter is so unhappy and is qualified to make more money well then he should quit right? I mean it is a free country (well Canada) so I don't understand what the problem is. If this employee makes a ton of money for Manwin and feels he is not getting what he deserves he should grow some balls and take it up with his managers. If it is a legitimate beef and they can’t afford to lose him they will step up and pay him more. It’s as simple as that. If you want a bonus then stand out. Do things above and beyond your job scope. Now, I am sure that there are some people at MindGeek who do have legitimate complaints about work. It is a big company and these things happen. Based on the law of averages I am sure some assholes work there too. I hope this employee finds a way to step up his game, and prove to his employers that he deserves a bonus. Speaking for myself and my company, those are the only guys on my team who ever get one. |
"and having our breaks cut by 1/3 each day, which we need to refresh our minds and keep us sharp;"

it doesn't matter who wrote it. the message they are trying to convey gets lost. the real message here is bonuses are bonuses regardless of who wrote that letter. |

He is lucky he has a job in the first place and if he does not like working there he can just leave. I have worked for some companys in the past and we never once had a christmas bonus or even a thank you.
I call bullshit on this whole letter. If you dont like working for somebody you simply just leave and get another job unless of course you are so crap at your job nobody else will employ you. |
Hey.. I've received an anonymous letter from a Manwin employee too..
It reads: "Deary Mike, I'm anonymous.. Manwin so bad.. You sew good.. I love your blog, all of us reads it.. Shit is unfair here.. everyting just like you seid.. You da greatest.. Manwin tis shit.." Sinfearly, anonyMouS. |
In China the bonus is mandatory. Called the 13th month or some bs.
So while funding the development of my stuff there, even though we haven't made 1 cent in revenue yet, i get to give bonuses. They do a great job, but in my mind bonuses have always been tied to profits. Happy Festivus. |
Meanwhile someone has been grepping the email server for phrase hits. I hope that employee is fine and dandy in the new year :(

I find it offensive when an employee of the ass holes that did more than anything to kill this industry and shit in their own graves is complaining about tea breaks !! He did use the word "prattle" though so if Mindfuck are watching I think your mole is British :)
