Are you better off now then you were four years ago?

This question is only meant for those of you who are or have been successful in life and business.

I am successful but my success has nothing to do with Obama or the government.

Saw right through that one. Were I to rely on the Four Year Plans as we have them in the USA I would have killed myself a long time ago.

Nice try at trolling!

Stock market is up over 5000 points in the past 4 years, the housing market is coming back, we're not losing 800k jobs a month, major corps arent going bankrupt on a daily basis.

Pull your fucking head out of Limbaughs ass and maybe you'll see reality.

fuzebox 10-23-2012 04:58 PM

Personally, yes, very much so.

It's not trolling. I expected the Obama lovers to be quick at derailing the thread.. pathetic...

SmutHammer 10-23-2012 05:00 PM

My mistake, I should have said this question was for those of you in the USA.

It's pretty clear, life is much better now!

Dead 10-23-2012 05:07 PM

My business has grown wonderfully only due to the fact there are voids to be filled and I was willing to work my ass off to make sure I could. Has absolutely nothing to do with politics, just smart work and building contacts that turn into more growth.

Sly 10-23-2012 05:09 PM

I look at my life every year.

If it's not better than the year before, I break it down and figure out why. Then create a plan to fix it.

So yes, definitely better than four years ago. ;-)

Forest 10-23-2012 05:09 PM

yep big time

Four years ago I was working a shitty minimum wage job trying to get by...

Today I run my own web development company and am doing very well...

I think I'm better off today than 4 years ago.

What happens in the future is irrelevant to how things are now compared to 4 years ago. Nothing is set in stone but nice diversion attempt. :thumbsup

No one is... Even Hollywood liberals are calling bullshit on Obama!

So if you are not better off than you were four years ago, it is 'the government's fault.'
But if you are better off than you were four years ago 'you built it.'

One or both of those statements are false you know... ;)

In regards to what you listed, today is held together by band-aids and manipulation. It appears to be better, and it is no coincidence that it appears to look better before an election, but the band-aids will be coming off soon. But that is speaking of the nation as a whole. Everyone will have a different personal story.

I'm personally better off today than I was four years ago. But that doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.

I'm sorry but you just can't have it both ways. You started this topic with pretty obvious intent to bitch about Obama. While you may not of said his name directly, everyone knows what you mean by "4 years ago".

The morale of the story, is unless the govt actually shuts down your business or directly affects it in some way such as contracts or loans it has little to do with how your business will do. What affects your business is how well you run it mixed with luck, hard work and determination.

Paying a bit more or less taxes, will not decide if a business does better one year over the other. The actions of that business and how it adapts to change are what determines if it does better or worse. A well run business will do just as good under a Republican administration as it would a Democratic one.

Your reading comprehension has failed you.

Yes. Since I can and have purchased health insurance (thanks Obama!) I am sick a fraction of what I used to be which means I work more and earn more.

I believe it's called self-determination...pretty much the way I've lived most of my adult life (I left home when I was 17, and really haven't asked anyone for much since). :)

I wasn't responding to that quote specifically, but to the idea of the topic. The topic seemed like you were asking a "weighted" question and with your past posting at mind, with the dislike of Obama it of course aimed at him.

It seemed like everyone was saying they were better off than before which was likely different than what you were expecting. It seemed like your comments after that, was grasping at straws as to try and come up with some reason everything was Obama's fault.

Hence the reason I said you can't have it both ways.. ie: You can't ask for people opinions with a obvious weighted question and then make excuses that their responses aren't what you wanted.

Rochard 10-23-2012 07:18 PM

I am better off than I was four years ago.

Four years ago we had reached the bottom. Half of the houses on my street were empty. I didn't pay my mortgage for a year; I sold my fucking car.

Now all of the houses on my street are occupied, and my last unemployed friend - who went from a high end corporate job to working part time at fucking Starbucks - JUST announced yesterday that she found a full time job.

I sure am better off. Everyone I know is too.

Brujah 10-23-2012 07:24 PM

If you're not better off than you were 4 years ago, it's not your fault. It's Obama's fault. You're an idiot, Ed.

Robbie 10-23-2012 07:28 PM

No. But it's hard to gauge.

Porn should be recession proof. I attribute the decline more to piracy for our industry.
