If you are a veteran and you didn't die in the War of 1812, you didn't die defending America.

You may have served heroically, but really you died protecting the economic interests of the rich.

Paul Markham 11-11-2010 09:59 AM

And you don't think fighting Germany was defending the US?

Just selling goods and arms to the English and Russians, and steel to the Germans before WW2, was just looking after the rich.

WW1 and WW2 made America into the power it is today. It turned the economy into a successful industrial one. Benefits that have been felt by all Americans rich and poor.

Then consider this. would Germany of developed an Atom Bomb or bombers or rockets that could of hit the US? Would Japan of stopped at Australia and not gone on to invade Hawaii?

Maybe you should read some History before you post.

Vendzilla 11-11-2010 10:03 AM

Yeah, how many vets are buried in europe?
LOL, this is from the people that served, FUCK YOU

Not a enough love as a child? or just like to troll / crap on people.

MetaMan 11-11-2010 10:16 AM

What are you people really arguing with what he is saying? He is not saying dont honor the veterans. He said that they died heroically but died "protecting the economic interests of the rich."

Which is 100% true. Wars are not fought for protecting the public.

People in Canada and USA really need to get that through their heads.

Maybe us idiots (the west) wouldnt be over in the middle east right now if we understood that?

so again what is he saying that is wrong?

THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH. all wars are fought for the social elite. The regular citizens death or life do not really matter if the interest of the social elite are full filled. that is how it has always been.

iSpyCams 11-11-2010 10:18 AM

I'll be the first to admit that I did not die defending america.

It was a colony, not the United States. Furthermore it was a response to our aggressive acts toward Japan in serving it with an oil embargo.

The difference between fighting for your country and fighting for your countries best interests is merely semantics... But making the claim that everyone who served and died after the war of 1812 was for nothing more than money and greed alone on a day which is meant to honour them? That is both low and shameful.

I am a big liberal, mostly anti war and all that but having served this great country - I would never think to disrespect ppl who did, especially on V day.

Of course you have your 1ammed. rights to do so but show some class..

I think the point (if he can be said to have one) is that EVERYTHING the US military does or that anyone serving in the military does is touted as being done in the defense of freedom and democracy, even when its clearly not true.

The armed forces serve the interests of the government (and indirectly, the people), but are hardly out fighting day and night to free oppressed people or defend the US from direct attack.

Your point is well taken...

Look wars are mostly fought for political / geo political issues.... In cases of wars such as WWII - where we are clearly justifed in our defense of our nation and our allies overseas there is no question - if we should of gone.

we can always blame our leaders, pols, etc but no one, even know they have the right to speak up and protest - should ever degrade the service of our military members as they are of course very low on the chain, so to speak... They follow orders from Pols and do thier job.

This is so.

The threat to your precious freedoms arent foreigners in Afghanistan but fellow Americans in Washington. How does Joe Q. Redneck protect you against that? He doesnt.

At ease soldier.

Thats not at all what I said.

All I was saying is that everything the US Military does is being said to be done in the name of freedom and democracy. This is always the selling point. Even when its a bunch of predator drones strafing villages in the Afghan mountains or blowing up a restaurant that Saddam is thought to be sitting in, even when its clearly going to kill scores of innocent people or whatever.

I was more saying that the rhetoric is very often inconsistent with the reality... and the reality if more often than not a matter of perspective. Its very safe to say that the middle east is not impressed with any attempts to force "freedom" and "democracy" on them.

My grandfather flew bombing missions over Germany and was shot down 5 times..survived each one of them. The last time he was shot down it took him 2 weeks to navigate his way from behind enemy lines to a neutral country. He did this defending the freedoms that cocksuckers like you take for granted everyday. Fuck off.:321GFY

You mixing things up...

Pols, make policy - your political leaders - who you and others "elect" into office.

You really should blame then and not re-elect them..

Congress and the admin sets policy and makes new laws, not the military..

The military takes orders, follows laws.

I forsure wasn't happy with the Patriot act but our "politicians" made that law.

He didn't defend any freedoms (except the Jews). You are a moronic, brain washed, uneducated douchebag with no fucking soul.

I am a Veteran, and while LOL picked the wrong time to say this (or right if he's trolling), what he says has a grain of truth.

War is the biggest and most profitable business in the world. We are in the Middle East right now to protect our way of life. Which revolves around oil.

This should not detract from the fact that every veteran, past and current should be honored for their service. Thank you.

Top quote is what you said, the reality is that it's more than most anyone thinks, the military is something we have to have. And on a Submarine, like I was, it was 24/7 hazardous duty. I wasn't there to kill people, my Sub only had weapons that could be used on other ships. As far as the drones, you're blaming the administration would be closer to the truth, not the people that fly them, it's not their decision.

Love talking to some of the old timers from WWII , one guy is in his 90's I know, he was on a sub that went into a Japanese Harbor to blow up a ship, had to launch 3 torpedoes till one hit. At the beginning of WWII, torpedoes were shit for accuracy

You desperately need a history lesson. Hitler had conquered most of Europe and was beating Britain which was one of the last military powers and an ally into submission as well. We gave them a lot more than weapons and tons of very brave people died trying to do in in merchant ships. It wasn't in any nations interest to have Hitler running the world and it was certainly a moral imperative to stop him from mass genocide. Japan had a recent history at the time, no less brutal than Nazi Germany's and also needed to be dealt with.

Its funny that you could use 100s of examples of questionable military use and you choose 2 obvious examples of Military doing the right thing for everyone

The US never had a large peacetime army until after WWII when it was never disbanded as it normally would have been. Instead the military industrial complex sold the people on fear of the boogeyman and used that fear to assure its continued existence and profitability.

After the Soviet Union broke up they needed to sell us a new boogeyman, radical Islam and the biggest fraud of all time, Al Qaeda.

Don't for a fucking second think that the US had anything to do with winning World War 2 other than their pussy out way of dropping a nuclear bomb. Pussies. Murderers. Losers. Scum.

The Russians won World War 2. The US would be speaking German right now if it wasn't for the Russians.
