The very same things...and worse...are done to members of our own military. I am surprised that much harsher methods were not employed...unless more techniques are forth coming that are indeed harsher...those named are pretty tame methods. I myself have been through SERE as have thousands of our military of all branches.

My father on the other hand in the 40's ..that was a little different...but they didn't beat the shit out of them.

i'm sure in isolated cases this might take place even nowadays, but i highly doubt its standard training to get your head slammed against a wall 20-30 times if your answer isn't clear, otherwise our military would all be brain damaged, ( well let's say "more" brain damaged :winkwink: )

I'll weigh in, I was a scout sniper in the USMC... SERE school is no joke. They do far worse to you than any of those detainees ever got. They can hit you across the face as many times as they'd like, I've seen people lose teeth and there's all sorts of worse forms of torture than water boarding believe me...

Let me break it down for you folks about what you go through at SERE school...

You can be backhanded across the face
You can be forcefully grabbed and shaken to any extent
You can be punched in the stomach so as not to cause permanent damage
You can be subjected to these interrogation methods:
Long time standing - shackled and made to stand for 40 hours (or more)
Water boarding - you probably know what that is
Cold Cell - how about being put in a cage naked and kept at 50 degrees you spend the time hunched down in a small cage and they don't allow you to touch any body part to any other body part (resting) or they hose you down
The list doesn't end here, that's just from what I remember off the top of my head. It's no joke! The school is designed for special forces who carry classified information. The intent is so that you can withstand torture should you be captured...

Although I'm sure the opposing forces would do much worse if they believed you actually had some very vital information.

Did you go through the Army SERE or Marine Corp SERE? The Marine Corp SERE was shut down at one point for being to brutal...I don't know if it was ever reactivated.

i wonder why go through all that trouble then , when the enemy is going to use interogation techniques far beyond what they could subject a soldier to in SERE.

but the more burning question is, Would they bang your head into the wall 30 times in a row in SERE ?

I guess its a rather moot point as banging someone's head against a wall is somewhat subjective to begin with . I could kill a man in less than 10 if i banged him hard enough i'm sure. So are they talking "tapping" or full force head smash lol

I say that some of these high value detainees and regular terrorists are still getting off to easy.

i'm sure the CIA just goes out and captures and beats people up for entertainment. there is really no other reason to travel across the globe, detain people, transport them and hold them. its an expensive hobby for sure.

i mean... what else could be going on that would require them to extract information from high value detainees...

and what's the rush? seriously... why would you be in a hurry? its not like the information is a matter of life and death or something.

of course, they also fully document everything for entertainment as well. funny how these really horrible people kept such great notes about what they were doing. maybe the CIA just hires really dumb people.

i hope that if your children get kidnapped and you know they have 6 hrs to live... you'll be careful to remember not to profile others as you try to find them. that wouldn't be fair to anyone.

The form of "walling" used on me was to bang my face and head down onto a table multiple times until my nose and head was bleeding...and that wasn't exactly "tapping". A few were knocked unconcious and that isn't exactly "tapping". SERE is not a pleasant experience...but helps to make one mentally tough...as a lot of military training is designed to do.

and the same fucking idiots who will call others "sheep" dont seem to be interested in what information was gathered from these interogations. no one wants to know how many lives were saved. how many other terrorists were taken into custody, how many planned attacks were disrupted.

and these people in question are not random people. we are talking about people at the very fucking top of the terrorist food chain. and what? someone got slapped? deprived of sleep? a terrorist leader was water boarded?

everyone just pretends to care so long as its a nice distraction from the health care reform which is quickly falling apart and other issues like cap and trade which are also faltering.

and when we do catch the guy who can give the information to save your life.... we'll make sure we get him a suite at the Hilton first, nice clothes, room service, a massage and then we'll gently ask for information while the ACLU stands there, reminding him that he's within his rights to ignore us completely as we bring him more steak and beer

hopefully, you'll survive. but lets be honest here.. if we really cared, we'd just get the info from the guy who has it and rescue you.
