What size engine does your car have?
CDSmith got me thinking about the differences between how I perceive the engine size of the average American car and that of the average European car, so I thought I'd make a poll.

I am a blond, I know it's a v8, no clue how many litres.
|
i have a chevy pick-up which is a 5.3. Since I work from home it's not that bad and only needs gas about once every month or so.

I will never drive anything but a pickup truck again. Its the most useful vehicle i've ever owned, I am still in the process of landscaping my backyard so yes i need it. I am building a deck on the back of my house this summer so I will need it for that. My main hobby is fishing, there is a lake less than a mile from me and in the winter when I go out early ice, I use it to haul all my gear there. When I can drive on it, I need a large truck to be able to get through snow drifts so I dont get stuck. During the summer it pulls a boat. In the fall for about 2 weeks I cut wood with my dad and need it to get back into the forest through mud.. I also use it to haul it all the wood out. So while I dont drive alot it is very useful to me. If i need to run up to the store for anything quick i take my motorcycle. If I go out to dinner with my wife and son we take her car which is a new V6 and is great on gas. |

I have absolutely no idea.
Plus, I'm American so the only liter I know is a 2 liter drink. Even the spelling is confusing me. |
4.3 V6
320 Fireball Straight 8 2.3 4 banger Another 2.3 4 banger 1.6 Liter Yota' 305 CC Honda Dream 49CC Yamaha QT50 15 +/- B&S 2-5HP motors (go karts, jr drags, mini bikes, etc) Too many. :Oh crap |
Grand Caravan V6... Litters, Dunno :(
|
My truck has a a 5.7L, my Camaro has a 5.7L.
The car has 350+ HP, but it gets much better gas mileage than my truck, as long as I don't step on it. Only problem is I have to run minimum 91 octane because of how I have the engine tuned, so I am still paying out the ass for gas. |
Residing in a place with over 8 USD for a gallon of gas and a BMW 318 beeing considered a huge sports car, the first thing I would do overseas would be to buy me the biggest ass V8 or V10 with at least 300 HP to HEAR a real engine.
Although I would still probably prefer something more compact for the city. |

Lets see it is a 5.4 liter. Then again I do need a full sized van as when I had a mini van it just did not work well do to my height when attempting to roll into the van via a ramp let alone transfer to the drivers seat without breaking my neck. I also need the extra battery power to power full electric doors, a lift, and drivers seat (only lift takes much power honestly).
|
I "believe" mine is 4.6 litres V8. It's supercharged too.
Do I need it? Nope. I work from home and rarely drive so I don't worry much about gas prices. In the morning I'll have to fill it up because I'm driving it into San Francisco for Cybernet Expo. I'm sure I'll be stunned when I fill it up - gas is $4.50 outside my house - but whatever. |
I got the big 5.6L in my truck. It actually gets relatively good gas milage though. I think I get about 25 on the highway, and since most of my driving is on the freeway, it works out pretty well.
|
Probably about a 15L engine or so...
(I take the bus now) :) My car that sits and doesn't go anywhere has a supercharged 2.3L V6 (Mazda Millenia S, sedan) |
5.7L and 405hp worth of PAIN (for everyone else...)
