If mainstream sites like youtube.com don't make that much profit (I've heard $15M in 2006) then I'm pretty sure adult tubes don't make anything at all. That could be the reason why it`s for sale

youporn.com is apparently breaking even or so. As you can see a lot of optimisation can be done there, and with such huge traffic figures that will easily translate into some interesting profits. I guess the same applies to redtube.com

Tube site business plan:
- Build up a shit load of traffic off stolen videos
- make enough sales to cover the bw bills
- try to find a sucker to buy it at an over inflated ridiculous price

0.01 is 1%, I was going by the 0.1% (0.001) posted but I agree they have to do better than either of those.

Like roughly speaking & generalizing:
2,000,000 visitors day, each of them see what's advertised = ~2,000 clicks per ad... and they plaster the place with advertising.

Bandwidth is dirt cheap these days.

The perfect business model for tube sites - open a pop on each page load, sell to many media companies for a knockdown rate (say $1 CPM to ensure the inventory is sold) and with 2 million visitors per day, the sites sees some $2 k daily from the pops alone.

Surfers would be pissed with the pop but the freeloaders can still wank4free so the traffic drop would not be horrific. :)

Just a side note: If we do enter a US or Global recession in 2008, the word CPM will die again. I can't believe this CPM bullshit made its way back from the dead after 2000.

Amazing how they generated this kind of traffic stats in such a short period. I've also been contacted if I had interested in this site. I also believe tube sites have some kind of effect on adult pay sites and i'm interested how their montly revs and b/w costs look like.

Anyway besides tube sites there is so much free porn online available on p2p sites and that was already before porn tube sites were deployed.
