Michael Moore Responds to CNN's claims that he "Fudged the Facts"

http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko/ne...icle_10017.php

Will CNN apologize? hahahha

Michael Moore kind of blew his top on Wolf's show, and acted like a loon, but the fact that he was able to substantiate the facts afterwards is pretty cool.

* This is libel. There is not a single fact that is "fudged" in the film. No one has proven a single fact in the film wrong. We expect CNN to correct their mistakes on the air and to apologize to their viewers.

Sounds like fighting words to me.

CNN will issue a correction or I think there's gonna be a lawsuit.

pocketkangaroo 07-11-2007 01:47 PM

The face-to-face was interesting and Gupta is a good interviewee. The fact that Moore still claims healthcare is free hurts his argument. Gupta kept asking him about that statement and Moore couldn't respond except to say it is free.

Tom_PM 07-11-2007 01:47 PM

Gupta claimed that by moore saying health care was "free" in those other countries, that only the more sophisticated viewers would know they were paid by taxes.

Let me tell you something, children who go to public school in the united states get a FREE education! Why? Because taxes pay for it! Doesnt that mean it costs something? YES Idiot! Then it's not free right? YES it's FREE because it's already paid for by your fucking TAXESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

If Gupta is saying it takes anything more than a 3rd grade education to figure that out, he has a damn LOW opinion of the intelligence of the population! Par for the course for mainstream media sadly. I wanted to jump through my tv and holler in his face when he spewed that crap.

Ahh that felt good.:1orglaugh

Well it's free in the sense that driving on the interstate highway is free and sending your kids to public school is free, and dialing 911 when you need the fire department or police department is free.

Yes it's funded by taxes but there is no payment at the point of service.

xlogger 07-11-2007 01:53 PM

Moote is a fat fuck! He needs to hit the gym and stop eating all those burgers. Sanjay gupta ftwww.

xlogger 07-11-2007 02:02 PM

Thats like saying credit cards are free because there is no payment at the point of service. :)

Actually, it's not like saying that at all. When you use a credit card you will be expected to pay the company back for the money that you borrowed. Where as with taxes you pay the money up front and for that you are provided with whatever the government decides to give you.

Further, one could live off the grid and not pay any taxes and still take advantage of all the things that the taxes pay for.

Sure nothing is free, but when you are dealing with public services we say they are free because it is not us who pay the bill for them, even though it is us who collectively pay for them.

I just think Moore pays to the lower class in these interviews. He doesn't point out that most of us would have to take a signifigant tax increase to pay for national healthcare. The lower class won't have to deal with it since they don't pay taxes.

hollinator 07-11-2007 02:15 PM

I hate Michael Moore - I've never seen anyone twist facts to further his own cause more than him. Anyone can edit video and sound bites and he's a master manipulator. He will tell only part of a story as has been evidenced before if it means making himself a ton of money.

Has anyone read the 'attempted' interview by people who used to be Michael Moore fans? Quite interesting stuff - he's such an ass...

Well, I guess you didn't hear the part where they said in the US per capita spending on health care is very high in comparison to places with a socialized system. So you could easily do it while maintaining the same taxes.

Or...your government could stop spending billions a day on the war and use that money to you know...actually benefit the people funding it.

I'm going to plagiarize myself because it seems fitting after reading this post:

He is fighting the good fight for truth and equality. It surprises me that so many people dislike him when he is the one putting his neck on the line just to improve the American way of life. Who cares what he looks like or what he eats or who he fucks (or doesn't fuck), he has a good message and has been more than effective in communicating it.

In that video he is right to criticize CNN and the other mainstream media outlets (on TV) for presenting the American people with biased reporting that people take as fact. We all know that these networks cater to the advertisers, and that is just not correct. The news should be the news, present the story and the associated facts and move on, allow the public to decide what side they are on, and if they can not then they can watch or read an editorial about it.

To all who dislike him...we get it, you think he's fat and trying to ruin your fun. Unfortunately, that just isn't the case. He is trying to improve your country and hold your leaders accountable for the decisions that they make. The US government has been about big business for a long time now, it is time to give the power back to the people who keep your country and economy strong...you. Wake up and listen to the people who are telling you that everything is not perfect.

Peaches 07-11-2007 02:23 PM

Anyone who thinks socialized medicine is "free" probably thinks they're getting "extra money" when they get a check back after they file their taxes.

I'd say probably because he cares a lot more about the state that your country is in than your "elected" president.

I honestly don't think it would be as big of a hit on taxes as so many complain.. In regards to how much you pay out overall. Sure your taxes might go up, however you would no longer be paying for health insurance. You would no longer have to pay a deductible for your health care or for meds.

Auto insurance would be cheaper, because it would no longer require personal health insurance. Medications would be cheaper like they are in places like Canada and the UK ect ect. In fact everything in regards to the current health system would be cheaper.

So over all you wouldn't pay more out of your pocket, it would likely be much less.. However you would pay more than you do currently in taxes, but like I said, overall you would likely pay less.

The lower class doesn't have to deal with it now either, since they're provided health insurance via medicaid.
The people getting fucked over by the current system are the middle class, who get whatever care their HMO decides to give them.
Under a national system the vast majority of us would pay less via the tax increase than we currently pay in premiums, deductibles, and copays.

All of that being said, I don't think we should get hung up on little things like the words Moore uses to describe something. The real question is should we have universal, single payer health care, and my answer to that question is yes.

You don't think about the taxes when you think about driving on a paved street, obeying red lights so you don't crash, getting your mail delivered, watching the cops arrest a bank robber, having the fire department put out your burning house, and other essential parts of society. People consider all of these free, they're not receiving a bill for it.

Health care is just as important, yet people cry about the small tax hike. However spending hundreds of billions on invading another country on little more than a hunch is barely questioned. Those are pretty fucked up priorities.
