EPASSPORTE DRAMA - 2 Hacked webmasters money not returned

Please take a few minutes to read through this because its not just another epassporte chronic im sure..

some of you might remember a thread from last week where i said that my epassporte account was hacked and that i needed someone to contact me asap... well they didnt but i called support few mins later and got the situation "controlled" or at least i supposed that was the case.
That day they blocked my account and the hacker account, after he took 2k from my account in 4 different transfers (500 each).
i guess he was not able to do the fifth transfer because i got it blocked before... and when i checked the status of the payment it was in PENDING still.. so i thought nothing bad could happen just create a new account and return to me my stolen money.

But that was not the case, 1 week later i finally get a hold from epassporte and im told that the money cant be returned to me because the hacker had cashed it already... WTF??? first thing, if someone hacked your site and stole my money its your fault not mine, they came up with the conclusion that my user-pass was obtained on a "phising site" at epassporrrte.com with 3 r's or something... (actually they said "thats how we suspect it happened")
i explained them that thats not possible as i dont type the url to get to epassporte but i use the favorites.. etc.. pointless anyways..

oh and Second... how could this person withdraw 4500 dollars in few minutes with a personal account which limit is 300 daily?

And i said 4500 because i was not the only one hacked that same day, another guy contacted me saying he was stolen 2500 from his account... we checked the hacker ID and it was the same than mine....

Of course he is not getting his money back either..

so i tried to talk with epassporte and get some answers on how was this possible?
im fighting to get my biz epassporte for ages already, i couldnt rise my daily limit even when i own 4 programs.. etc...
and some hacker can withdraw that much and do so many transfers in few "minutes" (thats what they say)

Plus i know the hacker didnt have much time to do this because i have enabled the Notification via email when a transaction happens, so i noticed right away as i keep my gmail open all the time...

im really looking for some answers here, i sent already an email to epassporte this morning but had no reply at all and i guess they are not going to reply either..

OH and they are also protecting the hacker, i asked them to provide me with information about this person, the country.. name or something... but again zip...

to resume... 2 webmasters were hacked the same day for a total of 4500 dollars, the hacker did 9 transfers and withdrew 4500 dollars from the ATM in less than 1 hour.

someone can please explain me whats going on here?

I trusted my money to epassporte and it was stolen from it, if a bank gets robbed they dont tell you to go open a new account and start from zero.

the least you can do is give me answers, and of course i still want my money back, or may be after this post i only get to have the other 2k left in my new account to be "hacked" again... right? well at this point i dont care.

maalox 10-05-2006 02:26 PM

hmmmm.where's epassporte when you need em?

bl4h 10-05-2006 02:26 PM

Whats stopping their employees from stealing shit?

micker 10-05-2006 02:28 PM

Not to sound like an ass here, but its an offshore debit card. if someone gets in your account and transfers money outside of their network, theres nothing they can do about it. If you have a US bank account and someone gets your debit card and pin and withdawls your money, the bank isnt going to give you one cent back.

I hope epass can recover whatever they can for you, but I wouldnt get your hopes up about seing any of the stolen money returned. Thats not an epass thing, thats just a bank debit thing...

scottybuzz 10-05-2006 02:30 PM

4k - ouch!"

THY 10-05-2006 02:32 PM

micker - you dont sound like an ass no worries : )
just sounds like someone that dont have an epass card or that knows more than i do..

from what i know and all the ppl i talked about its impossible to withdraw 4500 dollars from your epass card in less than 24hrs.

THY 10-05-2006 02:34 PM

personal accounts have a 300 or some special ones have 500 limit.. PER DAY.
and business accounts i think 1k is max per day.. not sure.. but how would be possible for a hacker to have a business account when its almost impossible to get one myself...

I believe every word you said!

I was locked out of my epass account for more than six months as they reset my password over and over again and still I could not log in. I only had about $35 in the account but that money was gone when I finally was able to login. I have no clue where the money went and I never asked about it because after all the trouble I had I didn't want to use epass.
I just blew it off because it was only $35.

I don't think anyone tricked you with a phishing site. You're a webmaster, you can read the fucking URL and see something is wrong. If you had tried to login to the phishing site you would have know right away it was wrong because you would not have seen your balance and then you would have changed your password. So I don't think Epass knows the truth.

Furious_Male 10-05-2006 02:36 PM

How did they get that much out is a good question. My account is set at $500 with 4 transfer a day limit but I am still only able to pull out $400 in a single 24 hour period.

I hope you get this worked out.

interracialtoons 10-05-2006 02:41 PM

[QUOTE=micker]If you have a US bank account and someone gets your debit card and pin and withdawls your money, the bank isnt going to give you one cent back.[QUOTE]

Not true. If it's a Visa debit card a lot of banks will only hold you liable for $50 if your card is stolen as long as you report it in a timely fashion.

JD 10-05-2006 02:41 PM

hoooly shit..... that's lame as fuck :(

jack.nasty 10-05-2006 02:43 PM

Depends on what bank. My bank has a $5,000 protection against debit card theft, they'll replace up to 5k that is withdrawn/spent in case somebody steals your card. I guess it?s up to the bank on decisions like that.

jayeff 10-05-2006 02:52 PM

If what you have written is an accurate account, I'm sorry you have been caught like this and I hope, although doubt, you will get your money back.

But I also hope this serves as a warning to others about how crazy it is to treat an unregulated offshore operation as if it were a regular bank. As someone already pointed out, in other circumstances your loss would have been dramatically restricted.

If it is convenient, move money through EP, but leave it there? No way.

THY 10-05-2006 02:58 PM

also i was just thinking about that "pishing" theory or whatever..

wouldnt be smarter from a huge company like this to take as a logic security measure to buy ALL the domains logic TYPOS to avoid cheaters???
its so well known this strategies...

wouldnt you think its their fault for not buying those domains?

i mean there are tons of adult webmasters that even buy typos on everyday domains... i wouldnt expect less from big companies like this.

Juilan 10-05-2006 03:00 PM

Oh fuck. Not good.

killerkay 10-05-2006 03:03 PM

exactly why I dont trust ePass :) heard this shit before

Godsmack 10-05-2006 03:05 PM

My account was hacked 1 month ago as well. they took 2k from it..

I did get it back though....

FreeHugeMovies 10-05-2006 03:11 PM

CaptainHowdy 10-05-2006 03:21 PM

Scary stuff...

THY 10-05-2006 03:24 PM

i still think they should own the basic typos at least...
epasporte
epassporrte
epassportte
epasporrte
and lets say another 10 more to make 100% sure...

how much would be that? 60-80 bucks? i believe they can afford it...

Pete-KT 10-05-2006 03:28 PM

reason I dont leave any extra money in PP or Epass at any times

Pete-KT 10-05-2006 03:28 PM

reason I dont leave any extra money in PP or Epass at any times

catalin 10-05-2006 03:33 PM

what pisses me off in situations like this is that when shit goes down people you trust with your money / business are not able to come with a clear reply in a timely manner of what happened precisely, what situation you find yourself into and what options do you have

It's killing me when I shoot emails and messages into the blue air and get no answer back

k0nr4d 10-05-2006 03:42 PM

has it occured to you maybe the scammer has several epassporte accounts/
He funneled all the money to one account and from that account to a couple other ones. He maybe had a whole bunch of cards...
