OK heres the question. I have seen MANY Adult Galleries being posted using this host. I was under the impression that they did not allow Adult sites?

Does anyone know what the real story is with them??

Now if they really don't allow adult sites, then aren't all the people that are using them for their free bannerless hosting, just cheating, and are setting themselves up for a major redirect or site vanishing act??

I posted this on PC BBS, but one of the options you get to choose when you signup for a Terra account (if my Spanish to English translator is right) is erotica. And there is no where on the site (that i can see) that says dont host adult content on our hosting.
I guess if they didnt allow adult content on their servers they would have warnings all over their signup page.

As far as I know, they limit bandwidth but not adult content.

I wouldnt be so sure about terra.es speed, currently it is fucking slow as hell. No wonder, if currently 60 galleries on Worldsex and 30 on TheHun are from terra.es... I am pretty unsure if there is any server in the world able to handle such traffic without big slowings...

OK rather then a bunch of people just speculating about terra.es, I have sent them a rather detailed letter. I asked them to give me the real story explaining if they do infact allow adult sites on their free hosting. Personnally I dont see how, with No ads at all it isnt possible for them to make 1 cent.??? Iam just very curious to see what their angle is...

That's pretty vague though - what does pornographic mean? Is a teen posing pornographic or is that just referring to hardcore material that may be illegal in some places - e.g. fisting?

Its not vague at all. Look it up... photos etc which deliberately arouse sexual excitement. I'm betting they interprete it that way too. They might moss alot of galleries and such on their servers but what happens when they do catch you? Blacklisted thruout the free sites or ignore it and simply delete your site?

Gemini, yes your right. It seems pretty clear. No they don't allow porn sites. They arent inforcing it yet but they will. It just
seems to me (being an honest person), that I would not be trying to cheat them if I know that they really don't allow it. Eventually they will find all these sites and delete them. So this is just my opinion, but anyone putting up adult sites on them is really a cheater, trying to get over on them while they can..

I completely disagree given the context of that sentence. Ask any European and s/he will tell you that a topless women is not "in general, contrary to law, generally accepted ethics and proper conduct or public order." Within the context of the sentence, pornography is used as an example of what is contrary to law, accepted ethics, etc. I would agree that putting hardcore on terra.es may not be allowed given the above, but a teen poser showing no genitals and softcore banners I think is perfectly acceptable given the terms.

Its better to fight shy of that sort of thing. We're with Lightening. Justifying something thats wrong by any means is still wrong. If those sites dcided to do it, they could sue for big dollars for bandwidth theft. For these reasons, I still believe that further clarification is needed before you can unambiguously declare that terra forbids all "adult content."

From practical point of view, porn galleries on terra.es are haevily promoted since September - I still havent noticed any 404 error on archived galleries, so it means they really are not that strict. I think they have that European liberal point of view in the terms "if it is not CP, than we dont care". Spray.se is the same I think.

OK I still have not recieved any response to my email to them.. I wrote them again this morning. Yes I agree their terms and definitions are vague at best. I really want to find out if they allow adult content on the bannerless free hosting for a few reasons.
First, if they dont, then there are alot of bandwidth thieves using them.
Second, if they do, I want to know the secret of how they offer free hosting to hi traffic sites with Not 1 single sponsor ad anyware?? This is what started me on this whole quest. Its simple in my book, either they are dumber then onions, and dont realize whats going on.

Or they are setting everyone up for the Big Redirect??

Let's get real, Bandwidth is very expensive, and with No ads or anyway to make even 1 cent on their hosting, Something just isn't kosher here???

Hi Dyanna, I did see that. It's just an opinion of Huns. Hun and I are friends, and I respect what he says. I'm in no way arguing with anyone about this at all. I am really looking to get a straight and specific answer from terra.es themselves. I've now written them 3 times in the past 3 days, and still no reply.
I'm most interested in finding out how anyone can host so many sites, incurring such an expense, with absolutely No income from it whatsoever.. I want to learn the secret...hahahahah

You are the hosting expert, so tell me if this is a possibility? Either what the Hun said . . . or they are getting ready to try selling advertising on that site? They'll be able to show potential advertisers some stats that are going to show an awful lot of impressions.

As far as it being a big expense - actually it's probably not costing them anything right now? I mean, if they are as big as some people have claimed they are, perhaps they just have a lot of bandwidth to spare. I mean, if I buy a 5 mb/sec line and pay for it monthly, but only use 2, then I still have to pay for that extra 3 even though it wasn't used. So say I opened up a new site, or let a friend use my bandwidth and he used up that left over 3. It didn't *COST* me anything http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Lightning is just losing more and more people to terra.es and his business is going down. If he post to terra.es everyday it's only because he dreams about them shutting down all terra account so his business would get better again.

Its True that Lightning would be worried about bannerless hosting and from a buisness point of view I can understand why but to say he not your friend is total fucking bullshit this guy has been nothing but helpful to me, very easy going.

Hey to all of you who know me please excuse my next few words. You all know I'm as helpful as I can be and usually very mellow.

Zgorf, look you stupid little fuck. You dont know me, and obviously you have no clue about what you just said. First of all My hosting is one of the largest Free Hosts in the world. We are growing everyday and have a very good reputation in this biz. We are not threatened by any other Free Host, in fact I'm probabally friends with the owners of most of them. We incourage all webmasters to use multiple hosts because it's a better chance of them getting more galleries listed on all sites. Not every site accepts all free hosts, (for 1 reason or another).
Terra.es has just started being seen hosting adult sites recently, and I, (as any good business person would do), am curious as to how their free bannerless hosting can possibally work. Also as any gallery maker would be interested in this as well, because if terra is up to something, nobody want's to get burned down the road from redirected sites, or removed accounte etc...

This thread was intended to be a sort of investigative manuver for myself, as well as the other intellegent webmasters here that are a important part of the adult industry.
