And it's not coming off very fast. Isn't that a bit much during pregnancy, especially on such a tiny lady? Here she is a month later. Maybe she's got some boob now at least.

I had ET on today and they showed her at some premier. She looked like Sally Struthers.

That pic looks a little fake, I've seen her on tv shows and she doesn't look that big. No way she's gained 70 lbs....

I just saw her on some TV entertaiment show and she was just that big..

I have no doubt she'll eventually slim down. But some ladies gain big time during pregnancy and have a hard time losing it.

Apparently you aren't aware that a MINIMUM 30 pounds of weight gain in pregnancy is considered healthy especially in smaller women.. Especially if they are planning to breastfeed, their bodies need a bit of extra body fat to sustain giving out the nutrients.

Nice of all you folks to complain about a pregnant woman gaining weight and knowing NOTHING about the importance of doing so. Here, I'll break it down for you all.


Minimum of 1.1 pounds for breasts
Placenta 1.6 pounds
Amniotic Fluid 2.0 pounds
Fetus average 8.3 pounds (or thereabouts)
Uterus 2.4 pounds
Fat store (neccessary for healthy pregnancy and breastfeeding) 8.5-10 pounds depending on body size.
Blood 3 pounds
Other fluids 6.1 pounds

Total Approximately 33 pounds (give or take).

Now 70 pounds might seem like a lot, but at LEAST half of that is NECCESSARY weight gain... The rest may be more than she needs, but come ON folks.

Seriously 70lbs is no big deal, especially if this is her first pregnancy.
Plus with the doctors treating you like you're sick and diseased rather than just pregnant, and telling you that you should lay down as much as possible and not move an inch, it's easy to gain that much weight.

It's MUCH better for pregnant women to remain normally active during their pregnancies, it keeps the extra weight off and doesn't put them in the bad position of trying to deliver a baby with muscles that haven't been used in 9 months and have gone soft.

My 110 pound ex-wife weighed 200 pound by the end. It took about a year to lose but she is even skinnier now. She looked like she had eaten a submarine.

and pregnancy is a time when women worry about everything...one day they worry that they have gained too much weight and the next they worry that they haven't gained enough. i think we should let her be a happy new mom and the weight will come off in time. in the bigger scheme of things it's not that important anyway

geeze you mean women gain weight when they have a child - EVEN rich ones?!

tiny women sometimes gain the most because they were actually underweight to start.

my wife is petite and she gained 55 lbs during our pregnancy, it took her 18 months to lose it all.
