Americans are answering the call

...to duty. I have been watching C-Span and the Generals testifying before the House Armed Services Committee about reformation and rotation of our military forces. They have stated that recruiting for Reserve Units is 100% plus...recruiting for Active Duty Units is 100% plus and retention is around 75%.

angelsofporn 01-30-2004 11:54 PM

Yep

They all want to enlist and got to other countries to kil people.

When your military is involved in a sham like Iraq it's scary that recruitment is up.

Paul Markham 01-31-2004 12:22 AM

Next time you're in the unemployment office look around you and see why recruitment is up.

You're not very bright are you?

dig420 01-31-2004 12:27 AM

Americans love a good fight...and are more than willing to kill those that have presented themselves as enemies of America.

What fiasco are you referring to? Surely you did not think that a Muslim nation would be turned into a Democracy overnight? Post again ten years from now about the "fiasco".

He's right. 2000+ years of backwards thinking and religious fanaticism will not change in our timetable.

Ten years is probably an optomistic outlook.

Yes...I agree...but America did turn a nation that was just as different culturally...as the Mid Eastern Muslim nations are to our culture...into a very strong Democratic government in about five years...Japan.

Excuse me King - I hate to ask, but is this what the US thinks it must do??

Why?

Ever thought of sorting out some priorities and paying the billions that are owed to the rest of the world and at least start on some kinda healthcare program and other basics in the land of the free first??

Don't worry about "democracies" until ya stabilize your own and convert it from a "rogue regime" :1orglaugh

Attempt to change the will of an enemy or destroy them...which do you prefer? The first option is more difficult than the second option.

How do you plan to "stabilize" the US until the rest of the world catches up? I'd really love to see a coherent plan.

I have no problem with uniform healthcare - I'd love it.

Rogue regime? Well - within certain definitions, I understand that. But, with which other implementation of government would you like to swap it out? How would you "convert it"?

A "rogue regime" implies that our system of goverment has failed completely. Maybe your wording was a little strong, and maybe it was 'tongue in cheek'.

I hate to think that people really consider this a "rogue regime" when in fact, at the worst, it's a speedbump in the road.

His stupidity knows no boundaries. He is now predicting in ten years what will happen in Iraq.

I may be clueless but at least I'm not stupid.

Ah, I'm getting it..... slowly!

So what we are talking about is the perceived enemies of the US again? Like in that dungeons and dragons game?

Yes.. I know now!! Tis best to destroy these dragons.. cos they are old and been around far longer than you ever existed and have this heritage and culture crap that "we don't like"...

Mmm... how about just nuking em.. you know, like we did with others? I hate em all - them "communists" and funny little people in places like Vietnam - they are all scum eh? Least we agree on that...

Mind it I help myself to another slice of Pizza?

Stupid, wake up to reality one day.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3383245.stm

Quote:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said the latest employment data suggested that at least 300,000 people had simply stopped looking for work.

US retailers did not take on extra staff to cover the Christmas rush; instead they cut 38,000 jobs.

The manufacturing sector has been shedding workers for nearly four years, and the trend continued in the December, when industry cut 26,000 posts.

Slow recovery?

Sung Won Sohn, chief economist at Wells Fargo Bank, dubbed the figures "disappointing".

He added: "Business caution is still quite substantial, preventing them from hiring people. The name of the game is productivity and to postpone hiring as long as they can."

Other experts added that the report was evidence that the economic recovery could be slower than previously expected.
So my answer still sticks.

Do you really think the individuals who serve in the armed forces think this way? Do you honestly think they do this to "make the rich richer"?

Well... no, - it don't actually work like that....

You see, this nice new country is... well, I hope you are not offended, but is a "little" immature for it's grandness.

It's not that there is any "catching up" to do really - it's more about having some ability to grow up and behave like a big person.

You see, at the moment a lot of these big people are looking on and shaking their heads in dismay and thinking this little kid is a kinda delinquent - we don't want that do we?

So... sip up that hot chocolate drink and off to bed!

You may view it as a game...I do not...and it is apparent that America does not. If the CONUS is hit in any substantial way yet again...I suspect that destruction in a massive way will be the next response. Thus far the US has been very limited in its response...to the last attack.

No, I don't think they think that way. I don't think they think at all. The armed forces doesn't require you to think. It just requires you to obey orders.

Free thinking people do not join the armed forces.
