Best fighter ever
My vote goes to Mas Oyama. The guy once killed someone with a single punch, fought bulls with his bare hands (and won) and won 300 fights against blackbelts in a row - took him 3 days :glugglug

never heard of him but he sounds like a hell of a fighter

In 1952, he travelled the United States for a year, demonstrating his karate live and on national television. During subsequent years, he took on all challengers, resulting in fights with 270 different people. The vast majority of these were defeated with one punch! A fight never lasted more than three minutes, and most rarely lasted more than a few seconds. His fighting principle was simple ? if he got through to you, that was it. If he hit you, you broke. If you blocked a rib punch, you arm was broken or dislocated. If you didn't block, your rib was broken. He became known as the Godhand, a living manifestation of the Japanese warriors' maxim Ichi geki, Hissatsu or "One strike, certain death". To him, this was the true aim of technique in karate. The fancy footwork and intricate techniques were secondary (though he was also known for the power of his head kicks). ok |

Brits here will probably heard of this guy...Lenny McLean.
Real hard man who was known as the "The Guvnor" who served quite a bit of time inside. For people interested there is plenty of stuff listed about him on the net. A snippet from one of the pages...Lenny McLean couldn't really be classed as a professional boxer, as although he fought for money it was in un-licenced or illegal bareknuckle bouts. At the time of his move into acting he was undefeated in around 3000 fights. |
I remember reading from that site before. Crazy dude.
|
Funny how none of the Karate guys have been able to do SHIT against grapplers with cameras and an audience isn't it?
Helio Gracie would have raped Oyama, all day every day. And wouldn't have broken a sweat doing it. |
it doesnt say that he will break your arm by blocking your punch.

he was also devastated after that single hit killing.
He went to the man's widow and worked on their farm for 7 months until she forgave him and was financially able... great human being |

anybody can kill someone with one punch... More and better fighters today than 50 years ago... The level of competition just can't be compared.. They say he fought with professional boxers in the US... LOL.. None of them seems great enough for some name dropping... :1orglaugh Would love to see him win with one punch against the top boxers of today.. lol |

Kyokushin is one of the few striking arts that are worthy. They are full contact no pad fighting. I would rate Kyokushin up there with Muay Thai, with MT being number one. While there is alot of about the one hit kills history, (Remember the video game Karate Fighter? The bull in the bonus section was based on him) he was considered hard core for his time. He was one of the original Mixed Martial Artist, as he carried Dans in Judo, and okinawan karate. Mas Oyama was the real deal, let's not forget that he was Korean born, yet is considered to be one of Japans treasures. |
how come I've never heard of this hero? lol
|
I'm sure there has to be a Gracie or two on that list!

Helio Gracie will always be on that list. Though he lost to Kimura, he proved that Gracie Jiu Jitsu aka as Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is a viable fighting system. It has only grown in the past 50 years and getting better and more technical. Case in point, I got my ass handed tonight by a 3 stripe blue, who I outweighed by over a hundred pounds. Not many other systems can say that they are as effective as BJJ. This article, written by a woman only enforces the effectiveness of the Brazillian Jiu Jitsu fighting system . http://slate.msn.com/default.aspx?id=55898 I however don't agree with her point about balance and coordination. BJJ is all about keeping Base, or balance. |

Born in Korea, yes..........but Japanese parents. |
I would have to second the vote on Horace Gracie. I was lucky enough to attend a few of his matches and he was simply amazing. Or any of the Gracies for that matter.:2 cents:

There was a black fighter in America in the early 1900-1920's who totally dominated.
That was back in the bare-knuckles days where 20+ rounds was normal. I can't find his name, but not only did he kick arse but being a black man in the South at that time he had a lot more crap to deal with before/after his bouts. |
I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of the above mentioned...... and I forget who.....but somebody was mentioning the grapplers dominating....Grappling is straight up brutal when I was still young enough to enjoy getting hit in the head....I trained a little and being on the ground with a good grappler hurts.
The toughest person ever is actually none of the above.......I am sure now that you see him it is SO obvious it is hard to remember . It is this man right here......... http://www.utc.edu/homenews/fowler03.jpg That is right...... It's Jim from Mutual of Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom As Marlin stood from a "safe" distance mighty Jim Fowler was running down the globes most fearce game battling like two Lion's fighting for control of the pride, Jim from wild kingdom would wrestle the beasts to the ground to be tagged for later observation armed with nothing but his pride and a label maker (and some insane anger management problems stemming from childhood evidently) he was no match for the kings of the African jungles and plains. Be it a Lion, an Anaconda, Aligator, Silverback, or Dragon's Jim from wild Kingdom was whipping it's ass and letting it know who was fucking boss around this joint and your getting tagged and observed whether you like it ir not bitch....... So here's to you Jim from Wild Kingdom for showing us that if you really want to be an ass kicking motherfucker....you better be ready to throw down with a Baboon Tag on Jimbo |
