Why do we care that John Lennon died twenty five years ago?

He wasn't the greatest musician. His songs were just ok -- there was no great talent. He was a hippie, big fucking deal. The Beatles sucked too. I don't get the appeal.

A whole industry has evolved out of whoring out the bones of that long haired faggot.

CamRabbit 12-08-2005 12:48 PM

"Do you remember where you were when lennon was killed?"

How the fuck can I forget when you assholes remind me every year! Fucking media. Bunch of assholes with nothing better to do then tell us what to think and do and how we should feel.

pornguy 12-08-2005 12:48 PM

I like the music in general. but I see it as a waste of time as well.

smack 12-08-2005 12:49 PM

more smelly stupid fucking hippies should be culled like he was.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-08-2005 12:49 PM

I invented John Lennon.

Music that was not particularly original. Boring movies that were essentially knockoffs of Monkees episodes.

People were only into peace and love because it was the hip thing to do.

Sorry you spent $280 on the beatles box set. you can get the same shit everyday for free when TV Land does reruns of the Monkees.

It's mostly media hype.
When Lennon got shot suddenly his new album started selling, before that it was getting bad reviews and he was being called a washed up ex-beatle.

Of course as soon as he was dead he became a demi-god that could do no wrong.

Everyone knows that Pet Sounds surpasses anything the Beatles put out.

I like the Beatles more personally; did you ever listen to them?

Maybe you only heard the poppy songs? They have some good "semi-popular" songs that are better than the "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" type content.

Try: Free as a Bird, Norwegian Wood, Day Tripper, Come Together, While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

They are Beatles songs that are in the category, "Wow, the Beatles sing that song?"

And John Lennon, he has a lot of good songs too which almost all fall into the category, "Wow, John Lennon sings that song?"

Try: Whatever gets you through the night and Starting Over for starters.

ok, i will give you those songs. but other than that, they should have stopped after hard days night.

my parents are huge beatles fans, so i have heard most of their songs. nothing every reall struck me as being that great.

WebairGerard 12-08-2005 01:22 PM

They changed music forever. First band to use multi track recordings, heavy guitar distortion, concept albums, orchestras in rock music, I can go on and on.

Movies I agree were not that great unless you are a big fan.

But go listen to some songs like Glass Onion, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Across the Universe, Norwegion Wood, Julia, Dear Prudence, Revolution 9, etc. and tell me the were not creative, talented, and inovative.

You may not like them but they were extremely talented.

cykoe6 12-08-2005 01:46 PM

We dont. Good riddance to the fucking drug addict. No great losss.

cykoe6 12-08-2005 01:56 PM

By the way, I personally think that The White Album and Abbey Road were brilliant music but I still dont care when some drug addict musician that I did not know dies.

John Lennon wasn't a drug addict. And drugs aren't bad.

Maxy 12-08-2005 02:01 PM

He made great music, people are emotionally attached etc. etc., stop whining and go celebrate your fleshlight instead.

smack 12-08-2005 02:04 PM

you know, on this day in 1982 a real fucking musician died. i don't hear anyone talking about him.

What time do those come on? :1orglaugh

How old are you? If you weren't around to experience The Beatles before everything that followed came along I can understand how you might think that they were copying someone else.

There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.

topbizucksMark 12-08-2005 03:24 PM

John Lennon was the original yuppie. He talked all this shit about the people and suffering and making the world a better place. All the while he lived in a swank apartment over looking Central Park with a pretentious artist. They hammed it up for every magazine that would give them some face time. He spent the later years of his life wallowing in self pity because his talent was limited and he came to the realization that he had been riding Macartney and the others coattails all-along.

Ringo was the man and Lennon couldnt even hold his cock while he peed.

CDSmith 12-08-2005 03:26 PM

Yeah that peace and love shit are so overrated.

dude you need your head examined.

WebairGerard 12-08-2005 03:31 PM

Now I know after reading these posts why the state of music is the way it is.

mardigras 12-08-2005 03:31 PM
