FACT: religion is nothing more than a tool of oppression

there is no god

when you are dead , you are just dead.

After Shock Media 07-19-2005 01:18 PM

Though I am not religious nor do I belive in a god. Stating there is not one as a fact only shows a wee bit of ignorance of the word fact.

tolerant of what?

2000 years of recorded bigotry and hatred and oppression?

you have it backwards. i don't opress anyone. i just typed about 10 words, yet religion has shed more blood than there is water on this planet.

SouthernGirl 07-19-2005 01:26 PM

religion keeps people down and tells them do as i say for a reward AFTER YOU ARE DEAD!!!!

this is the most laughable scam in the history of scams..

no, but it takes some real ignorance to look around and proclaim that there's no air just because they can't see it.

I'm not into religion myself but I'd never be stupid enough to go around proclaiming something as fact with nothing more than "weatherman can see the weather" as the all encompassing "proof." :1orglaugh

I'm not sure what you are referring to, but my religion has been around for about 6000 years..... and doesn't oppress anyone.

The only major religions that have been around for only 2000 years are Christianity and Islam.

There are a lot more religions than those..

Please try again :2 cents:

WHY???

just out of politeness?

they dont bother with being polite to you. face it, those people dont even want you ( a nonreligious person ) to even exist.

you buy into the big lie, man.

wake up. they hate you.

Why? Because there is a very minimal chance I could be wrong. Seriously doubt it but I will acknowledge that it still does exist until someone is able to prove it 100%.

Actually some religious people are very polite. Not everyone is out to convert you. If you remain polite to them and do not mock their beliefs they they are tolerable.

Buy into the big lie? Why because I refuse to proclaim god does not exist without 100% proof?

They hate me? Actually no often they have the very best intentions and wish to "save me". Those that "hate me" are hyprocrites anyways and going by their own rules they will be in hell :)

if you were wrong about the first 3 religions, what makes you sure of hinduism? don't you ever wonder that maybe you are suggestible? 3 major religions in one lifetime is a pattern.

find your own way

it's an overgeneralization.. I don't hate him just because he is a nonbeliever.. it's just a matter of learning how to respect the beliefs of others even those different from yours

I'm not religious but you can't prove that there isn't a "God" anymore than there is one. To state it's a FACT that there are no higher beings is pure ignorance. You can't be sure about the unknown. You can say "Look around and see no evidence of God" ... but you can also look at the world and find it hard to believe there ISN'T a "God" or higher being.

Think about it. If living creatures didn't sleep or lived forever, we would use all of our resources within a year. The sun shines during the day for us to work, for things to grow, and it becomes dark at night... enticing our sleep cycle (although, I am nocturnal).

Think about the precision and depth of the human body and mind. Of course it's not perfect, but this is not a perfect world. However, it is absolutely beautiful from a design perspective. It's practical and has extraordinary detail; right down to our eyelashes that are meant to keep things from getting into our eyes.

With all our technology and advancements, we cannot come close to duplicating nature. This evolved by coincidence? Bullshit. This world and this life was meticulously planned by "someone". Whether that's a God, gods, aliens, and/or some higher being... we are not here by sheer circumstance in the universe.

First Three? Did you read the post? I was raised one way by my parents, that had very little to do with me, then spent 10 years with Wicca, and then have spent the last 10 or 15 years searching for that which fits MY view of the universe.

I'm guessing that you are very young.

Yes, it's a pattern. It's a pattern of searching, studying, reading, thinking, and discussing in order to find a viewpoint of the universe that fits me. It is a never-ending process, not just for religion, but for every aspect of life.

If you AREN'T on that journey, then I fear that you are just drifting along, without any growth at all....

But, hey, if that works for you.... Great! :thumbsup

Hardlinks 07-19-2005 01:45 PM

Rural Tennesee, imagine that.

Furious_Female 07-19-2005 01:46 PM

Although, I agree that religion is used as a tool to steer the masses. Of course, that's known by most people who aren't brainwashed.

However, one has to stop and think... if it weren't for all the God fearing people in the world... how dangerous and out of control would the world be? Trusting that people will be practice self-discipline and good morals isn't something I'd like to wager on. Just like laws are needed, the fear of God is needed to keep the world as civilized as it is.

Religions are the biggest money makers, organized crime, and powerful establishments in the world. I don't agree completely with any of them... but I am in favor of encouraging any type of goodness in the world. So until we find a way to extinguish any and all ignorance in the world, it's probably a good thing that the sheeple are still impressionable.

Can she get an Aaaaaaaamen?

I am with you on that: we are all bags of fertilizer.
But I disagreee on that god thingy ... I am my own god, and I worship no false gods (unlike so-called Christians and the rest of the lost little sheep/herd)!

Try and tell me there is a 'god' (besides me) ... fine, provide me with proof.

No proof = no god !
Very simply, yah?

Another issue people have. Do not confuse religion with an organization or church. They are seperate entities all together.

MetaMan 07-19-2005 01:49 PM

there is a God, beliefs dont have to fit into a certain religion, only a stupid southern toothless butchy women as yourself would think that.

i believe in God but i do not fully believe in any reiligion.

belief is what keeps the human race going, we do go somewhere after we die, there is something that started to first bang and that thing is God.

if you didnt believe in any God you would be out doing whatever the fuck you want.

morals and society are built off religion, one in which you live in.

You are the one that seems stuck in one world view, probably about most subjects... and have a very limited outlook and wish to expand yourself, but..

the ten commandments or some varioation of pop up in all the major religions. these things are in our genetic code, because they directly affect survival.
