With the economy in the UK going to poo, and things clearly getting worse, the rich getting rich and the poor getting poor, and police getting more and more power, would there be a breaking point? Well in the UK it looks like the point has come.

The youth have turned. Students demonstrating in many UK cities.

The respect for the police and goverment now gone.

Many over 25 years of age fail to see the reason. They condem the actions. They have become far too used to being told what to do and think. For too happy to have there rights removed.

But for the young they want a different UK.

Is this not what Michael Moore's film 'Capitalism: a Love Story' concludes. An era that people will rebell.

In the UK many students voted for the Lib Dems on the basis of free university education. The lib dems had 2 main polocies that made them stand out. End of tution fees and end of nukes. Both they seem to now forget. So if the polotitions lied, ca\n the students be blaimed. Are the student riots worse than the deception of the lib dems?

Does it matter if universities are not free in the UK?

Well it does. It changes the point and principle of british universities. Not so long ago universities were about education. Today they are simply about getting a bit of paper to enable you to (in theory) get a better job.

There was a time when in the UK a degree meant more money, but now employeers simply no longer advertise for graduates as they know most people have a degree. So now yyou can employ a graduate for very little.

In his film Michael Moore concludes that the answer is democracy, being the solution. But as somone stated in his film, democracy can be seen as two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

I would sugest the answer is education. More people know and understand things, the more they have power.

But the goverments prefer people to be thick. Football is fed to the foolish in order for them to have somthing to be bothered about. People do not care if the goverments are taking there rights away, just as long as there football team does well.

So if students have to pay for education in the uk, it reduces the nombers of students who can get education.

I wonder how different the world would be today if the great Franklin D. Roosevelthe Second Bill of Rights got through.

Why are americans not angry that they have never had these rights?

you will find that for many years in the uk we did have free education. in fact you even got money too for going.

we also have the nhs.

Well, there is in few places. Of course you need to have for a flat etc., but there are countries where universities are free or at least dirty cheap (Poland i.e.). The UK like Australia is a welfare state. The state provides a safety net for those not fortunate enough to be able to afford housing, medical care, education and so forth.

Australia lost free tertiary education some time ago, however it's free if you can't afford it. Basically the Government gives you a loan administered through the taxation system and you pay it back once you earn over a certain income threshold. I understand the Lib Dems are proposing a similar system, I don't see a really big problem with that. It works well here.

As you point out the UK does have the NHS, housing is essentially free to those who want to live in council flats, education will essentially be free too for those who cannot afford it.

Do I have my facts wrong here ?

In Cuba you can die from a simple preventable infection because the health care system is so overwrought from lack of supplies, decent infection control and funding. I have been to Cuba a few times. Back in the early 80's it was half decent, now it's teetering on becoming a third world country as the whole system is breaking down to a point that your travel insurance company charge a premium because they want to medivac you out for even small medical problems rather than take the risk in the Cuban system.

The NHS is free to all at pont of use. You can be poor or very rich. Its still free.

Fist no country has realy ever had communism. China mocks the UK as in china the health service is not free.

The USSR broke many of the main rules for communism.

As I understand it the Government is simply proposing a system based on the Australian model. You pay back the Government for your University education once you can afford it. You can choose either a Government backed place that you repay the Government for or a Private place on the same footing as any international full fee paying student.

What the fuck is wrong with that ? Or am I missing something here ?

Many of the beaches are terribly polluted and petty crime is rife. It's not the paradise you imagine.

Keep in mind that once you graduate you are not allowed to leave the country and you will earn $400 a month. Your main priority will be feeding yourself.

In Denmark education is free you even get $800 or so a month while at university any education is open to anyone as long as you have the grades to be accepted so everyone have an equal chance of getting a good education.
You then pay for your free education over your taxes for the rest of your life.

Seriously DVTimes, go to Cuba and see it yourself before you make such idiotic statements. The place is a fucking basket case despite sanctions. Even without the sanctions the system would be crumbling, in fact probably faster than if the sanctions weren't in place. One thing sanctions has done for Cuba is to steel the fabric of their society to survive with old cars, improvised materials and equipment etc. However none of that changes the fact that the country is a basket case. The westminster system is probably the best democratic system to emerge so far in human history, it has so many checks and balances that you never see the kinds of issues you see in the USA or other forms of democracy.

Some of the most stable and fair Governments in the world have the westminster system, Australia, the UK, New Zealand. You really want to replace that with something unknown and untested ?

I have this theory about the NWO. Britain is their test bed and if the Brits accept it then it's rolled out across other countries. The place is a fucking basket case despite sanctions. Even without the sanctions the system would be crumbling, in fact probably faster than if the sanctions weren't in place. One thing sanctions has done for Cuba is to steel the fabric of their society to survive with old cars, improvised materials and equipment etc. However none of that changes the fact that the country is a basket case. Why do you think people take such terrible risks to get out ?
