I don't know what's more dangerous - outer space exploration or underground exploration or water exploration. One thing is for sure - humans are meant to live on fertile lands. They are land animals that walk above ground.

Truly amazing rescue operation

Nice reality check for those that sweat the small stuff.

Here's to a safe rescue for all the miners and those that are making it happen.

Maybe they used the buckets that were used to lower them down the food?

What a charade this ordeal is. In the meantime 1000s of people died in car crashes and no one remembers them, Just the other day a train hit a bus and 40+ people died on spot.

So what.

If at least the train would drag them around for 2 months now and they would survive and be kissed by their wives and wrote a book about and retire, etc... that would be something to write about on the boards, just because the media told you to discuss it since you have no life.

Toothbrushes were probably sent in the packages.
They had access to 1km of tunnel, surely enough for their meager excuses for shits.

They were given supplies such as food, toothbrushes, and shaving equipment in buckets that were sent down. Also they sent up notes to their wives and families saying they were okay.

Socks you missed the point. The only reason why someone's ordeal matters way more than others is the media coverage, not because ones is more important.

The point is the media is turning this into a fucking show. If 40+ people or my kid dies in a car crash it would all be a matter of a brief one-day coverage. And the number of people's lives affected would be the same.

However, IF the wall fell on to these miners it would all be a tragedy way bigger that if they just died in an explosion the first day.

It's a show.

The media cannot possible cover every incident that happens. They have to pick and choose what's important or interesting. It's not about who's life means more than another's.

This story is about saving lives which looks to be a complete success. It's a much more compelling, feel good story than hearing the grisly details of how people lost their lives in a train wreck which would be disrespectful to dwell on.

I wasn't watching this with hope the tunnel would collapse, I want to see everyone saved. I'm amazed at the predicament they got in and the way they are being saved. It is interesting to watch and there is much to be learned.

I do not place any more value on there lives than I do the people that die every day in car accidents on the highway I commute on.

I wouldn't call this a "show " but it's really good " reality " TV

Shut the fuck up. The thread is about miners not trains you fucking dumb wit.

If you had half a fucking brain you would be able to read media and still make your own choice what the watch or comment about.

I guess you are so stupid everything you see on TV you talk about. You just admitted you do.

so what - just cause someone else somewhere else died they should not have bothered if maybe someone survived the accident?

i use the term rarely - but you're an idiot.

so why even bother to spend millions on medical research, car safety or science in general? since we all gonna die and no one bothers why not simply blow up the whole planet to make it a quick end? jeez...

It's a human interest piece, and an exceptional one at that. It's not every day that dozens of people get trapped roughly half a mile underground, manage to survive for 2 months, then get rescued.

However, people get killed by busses and cars in accidents every day. It's newsworthy, but not major news by any stretch.

This is.

Sorry McSpike, you may disagree but your point is rather invalid. Exceptional tragedies, especially ones that end up having a happy ending, will always get more coverage than everyday occurances like MVA's, even ones where 40 people die.

It's fantastic news, I have watched the progress of these guys ever since it started and been routing for them. But watching it non stop on TV is still boring. Maybe I need something more riveting than watching a wheel turn raising and lowering the cage to keep me glued to the TV.

It's great that they're rescued, just not great TV.
