I remember that. Pink.tv went crazy with show sponsorships / ad buys that year, very similar to iporn the year before last.

I haven't really been paying enough attention to who bought the most branding each year, but maybe shooting your advertizing wad at internext miami is like a bad luck charm

My failures - everything.

My successes - nothing.

Ok? Now can we get back to listing programs that were hyped out the wazoo and never amounted to anything? Its fun. It brings back memories.

i think you missed the point of the thread.

I have had more started projects that either weren't finished or failed then most of the people on GFY. HOWEVER, I didn't run to GFY each time about this really cool "IDEA" i had and hyped the shit out of it, told everyone how great is *was* going to be, in some cases ignored people's feed back who pointed out things about it that weren't good and gave suggestions on how to make it better... then the project either doesn't launch or it does for a couple days and it was total shit. Days, weeks go by and you never hear another word about it.

I've mentioned only 2 of my projects over the years on GFY. Both times I advertised them here, and promoted them. I didn't brag or hype it either time. I also didn't start talking about it until after the site was launched. I didn't do the pre hype that you get from some people even before they start building the site... I never bragged. 1 project was a success, one i pulled the plug on after 2 months because it wasn't sticking and making money.

More like a stupid way to blow your advertising money, especially with the turn out these days shows. If you taking more than 10% of your marketing budget to put your name everywhere at the show, then a sales guy for that show sure did a number on you. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these companies dumped 50%+ of their marketing budget of a new site/company at one show. Crazy to blow it all in one place with such a low ROI.

TB has had its share of projects that haven't done so hot. XMoney, or as I liked to call it XFunny and MyHi were my two favorites. XMoney was hyped for a little bit but MyHi never really made it past the internal mocking.

Have to add sexeducation.com to the list.

Not sure who was/is more entertaining, camgirls or sexed but both came in thinking that just having a good domain name meant success and were determined to tell us so.

I still have this up http://www.sexeducatoon.com/original.htm from back then.

I love how much realistic constructive criticism went into Sleazy's YesSignals unveiling thread, that went completely ignored. I think people genuinely wanted to see him do something positive with it, even though nobody likes the guy, and the idea was bunk as fuck. I mean the design still sucks balls, it's still crammed with usability issues, and spelling errors. It's a complete shitheap, and he didn't take a word of advice on it. He didn't change a damn thing. Spellcheck anyone?

I still wonder if it's a joke or not to this day...

it was real. I spent a couple hours chatting with him trying to help him make it better. I think he got most of it but was on very limited funds so he didn't have the money to do it right. Which the whole idea I thought was stupid, and he should have been focusing his time on a tube site so he could at least sustain some income as sleazydream goes down to nothing soon enough. Yes Signals isn't going to be the vehicle to replace his income, a tube site would have been the common sense, logical alternative for him to do, but he thought yes signals was a better idea
