Minimum Wire Payments & Fees - Time To Get It Together

I've read a few threads about wires and have been thinking about the whole wire payments issue a lot recently(even before the Epassporte drama). This is just my opinion, but the adult industry needs to rethink the general attitude towards wire payments.

I think the whole wires cost money thing is such a dated argument. This is 2010!!!
Sponsors should lower minimum payment amounts for both domestic and international wires.

I don't know how some of these programs justify the fees or need for $1000 minimum.
My bank doesn't charge me to send or receive wires. Yes, I'm in the USA but I receive and have sent domestic and international wires.

These fees and minimum amounts were obviously based on banking practices, as they were years ago, not today.

Affiliate programs and webmasters should be more proactive, when it comes to banking. Who says you only need to have 1 or 2 accounts in 2010? I have one account, which is used mainly to receive wires, it costs me nothing. I get a wire payment from CCBill every week and a few others every 2 weeks, or monthly.

Why don't affiliate programs and webmasters shop around and stop being stuck in 1999? Most banks have online banking and wire transfers just take a couple of minutes.

You can always transfer funds from the bank you use to receive wires to your main account/preferred bank(coz people fall in love with their banks, or it is more convenient yadi yada yada). Link 2 or 3 bank accounts together and Inter-Institution transfers can be done in a couple of minutes, online. Again, it costs nothing!!!

Real Life Example:TD Bank, Chase Bank & Bank Of America Accounts are linked online

Receive Wires Into TD Bank Account (free) - Log On & transfer funds to your Chase or B of A accounts (free) - Use the closest BofA or Chase ATM (free)

Yes, I know it can be more complicated with international wires and intermediary banks, but is still is not as difficult or expensive as people make it out to be. With a little bit of research and competent staff, I'm sure affiliate programs could come up with something more cost effective for the webmasters abroad. Maybe it is time for more programs to come together and share payout costs, instead of trying to stand on their own and failing. We need more Gammae type set ups, that way payments can be merged.

As far as domestic wires are concerned, some programs charge as much as $30 for wires below the ridiculous minimum payments set. How can anyone justify this? I would hazard a guess that the average fee for domestic wires would be around $13. However, I'm sure if you went in, or called your bank you might be surprised what can be worked out, by using this little thing called "online banking". There is no justification for the high minimum payment amounts and fees for domestic wires. Webmasters need to also realize they don't have to only bank with the institution next door. Your bank should work for you! Most of my banking is done online and through the ATM, I go into the bank about once a month.

Webmasters not in the USA are going to have to incur some sort of cost, but I still don't think the high minimum payments are necessary. As we have learned with the Epassporte drama, some guys depend on that $100 from program A and $300 from program B. Affiliate programs should spend a little time to find the most cost effective banking solutions for both domestic and international wire payments.

It is not like Epassporte was free anyway - add the annual cost of the Electron & VV cards to the $3.00 ATM fee and how much were we all really paying?

We really need to come together and work together, in order to survive in this economy. If people can't receive wires, they can't pay their hosting etc bills, everyone suffers. The adult industry doesn't survive on webmasters in the USA alone, so let's not forget our friends in other countries. Checks are almost impossible for many in Europe. Unless things have changed, I remember it could take over a month for some USD checks to clear in the UK. A lot of us in the USA are so clueless to the way things work in other parts of the world, people come on here and post ridiculous, thoughtless statements.

I think we have all just become a little too lazy and stuck in our ways. The adult industry used to be innovative - what happened?

As I said, just my 2 cents and I don't post on here often, but I have been in this biz full-time for about 12 years now. There have been great, good and bad times and through it all, certain names I see on here have survived, so hang in there!!!

The problem is that there is no international Automated Clearing House (ACH) for direct deposit/withdraw (debit/credit) of bank accounts internationally like within the United States.

So, for Internet Affiliate payment, Affiliates being located world wide, the transfer of monies is dependent on a myriad of both national banking regulations and each bank's own policies.

If you could somehow connect each bank's Internet banking system through some international clearing house, as most banks now offer Internet banking ? the difficulties in sending/receiving Internet Affiliate payments would dissipate ? so would the bank fees earned.

A lot of this problem is caused by governmental regulation, "know your customer (money laundering, tax enforcement and other objectives)." These objectives become obstacles to legitimate commerce and in doing to are restrictive of economic growth too.

At ACWM and XloveCam we pay out by wire free with a 100 ? minimum.

just adding meant my bank doesn't charge to receive domestic or international wires, or to send certain other types of online transfers, not technically classed as wires.

Why don't most programs try and set up ACH for US webmasters, which is cheaper, then maybe pass on some of the savings to those abroad?
