I just checked google keyword tool and there are 3,000 global and 1600 local searches for the exact phrase hosting community with millions of queries for similar keywords (obviously). With some basic SEO you will be like this guy running webhostingcommunity.com who did barely any work and has prime listings. Competition is medium for this particular phrase but all the other keywords when you put in hosting community in google's keyword tool are in very high demand. That means this domain would give you a superb start at some really valuable traffic ...

Yeah, pretty good indicator that when the .net and the hyphen variation are available that your domain isn't going to be worth much or in high demand, although there are a few exceptions.

Searches are low for the exact match term.
But competition is medium.
It would take more than 'barely any work' to gain better keyword listings.
The price is not good value.
