				No more Middle Men?

No showings around me and I cannot find it anywhere on Fandango as either in theaters or upcoming. I checked the movies being released on the 20th and there is nothing.

The official site just says limited release on August 6th but nothing about the wide release on the 20th. Many predicted it wouldn't go wide but is that the actual case? Will we have to wait for the DVD? |

In its 2nd weekend, it grossed a whopping $96,198 in 252 theaters, dropping off 70.5% from the previous weekend, which is incredible considering that weekend was a fucking bomb at $325,641 in 252 theaters. Its domestic total is at $678,012. Even if they expanded it, I bet it wouldn't do any more than $1,000 per theater and would be gone in 3-4 weeks after...so MAYBE if it's lucky it'll do a full run of $7 mil. Pretty pathetic.

I would pay to see it but I doubt it will play in Thailand.

Don't see why all the hate on this guy, he took a shot at something big and the jury will decide if it's a hit or not. Even if it doesn't beat out The Expendables, they still stand to profit on the movie, which means it will be a success in the long run. |

If you don't understand perhaps how bad it's doing, there's another limited release movie out now called Flipped. I've never heard of it, doubt anyone here has ever heard of it, and it's only playing in 44 theaters and last weekend was its 2nd weekend as well. It with 44 theaters made $119,310 (which is not very impressive) while Middle Men with 252 theaters made $96,198. 33 movies grossed higher than Middle Men last weekend, 11 of them in less theaters than Middle Men was playing in, and only 2 of them were in their 1st or 2nd weekend. It's not a COLOSSAL failure, but given who was in it and it being a somewhat interesting-looking movie, it's doing much worse than was expected.

what? it bombed? you mean all that amazing golden traffic on the pornhub network did nothing for it? omg, who would have believed it? they have "more traffic than god" though, how can it be? i'm sure none of those porn thieves on those tubes did a search for "middle men movie + torrent". couldn't happen. i mean they are so upstanding and want to contribute so much. i can't believe it at all. i am shocked.

i don't know how good middle men will be but i do plan on watching it when it comes to dvd. it doesn't strike me as a big screen kind of feature but i think it will do much better in rentals/dvd sales.

Investing in movies is a nightmare, so I give kudos to them for trying.

I got to watch the movie "Take" go through the process from the producer's point of view. ![]() I know two of the producers and it was a cool thing to get to watch come together from the sidelines, but it was a very long and seemingly painful process. Good actors- Minnie Driver and Jeremy Renner, good story line, kind of iffy editing and some overly obvious symbolism IMO (lol, they will kill me for that), but seemed to have all the elements to make a successful indie film. I can't swear to the timeline but it felt like maybe a good 6 months or more of private screenings and a few name changes after everything was complete before it premiered at Tibeca in 07. The theatrical pick up seemed extremely sparse and it kind of fell off the map and disappeared until it got a new life on cable I want to say maybe 4 or 5 months ago, sometime in 2010. I'm not taking a wild guess when I say pretty much everyone involved lost their ass on it, but I guess you can chalk it up to contribution to the arts. It's a pretty interesting film if you ever get a chance to watch it. The first time I saw it was a rough cut w/ no music, it was kind of cool to see how much a score really ads to a film. It was a very interesting thing to sneak peek from the inside, but I think I would have pulled out every last hair in my head had it been my money on the line. |

I give props to them for trying. It's not easy to make a money making movie about this biz. Maybe they would have done better by making it a comedy

I give them props for trying too as far as the making of the movie, getting an enticing cast put together etc. It does LOOK interesting and I would like to see it. I don't give them props for advertising for it on the very sites that are crumbling this industry, and I'm surprised so many people around here seem either oblivious to that fact or oblivious to how wrong that is. They chose to advertise that movie on a bunch of sites that give all your shit away for free.

20 Million is not that hard to recoup. I still haven't seen it, but I am looking forward to owning the DVD.

Actually, I know what I am talking about but since you have your own thoughts on things. No need to debate. Keep playing.

![]() Middle Men is playing today (8/19) in San Francisco on 10 screens, and has 23 showings. When I key in tomorrow (Friday 8/20), it shows that it is will be on just 2 screens with only 5 showings. In the South Bay (San Jose, etc) it is playing today on 9 screens, with 15 showings. It is scheduled to be on only 1 screen with 2 showings tomorrow. ![]() In LA, it is showing today on 10 screens, with 24 showings, and Friday, only on 2 screens with 6 showings. These cities represent more than 10% of the 252 screens the movie has been showing on. Similar pattern for NYC. The theatrical future of Middle Men appears to be dim... ADG |

I'd expect them to end up profitable in the long run...

What this movie does reinforce is the fact that a movie like Avatar making a gazillion dollars really is an amazing accomplishment. Generating that kind of push for anything, let alone 3 hours of sitting in a dark room full of strangers is a hell of a task. ![]() |

My worry is does this put Epass as a company in jeopardy? Many of us have significant money in their hands. Shall I submit for a wire?
