I thought about this more and I have to agree with you on it.

If your content is truly that unique then I can see where you are coming from. And if the galleries are too much, it's wasted bandwidth and money because those surfers aren't converting.

I'd be interested to know the results in a few months if it improved conversions, etc.

Well, we didn't mean to disrespect to any current affiliates. We had no idea that somebody would post our private email for sport. We never "bashed" our affiliates, but are asking them to simply remove some excess FHG's. We did send out an email about 3 weeks ago and we didn't get a response from those affiliates listed in our 2nd email. Still at a loss as to all the negative remarks about doing this. We feel it's a very solid move in the right direction. The current model of sending out 1000's of free pics and vids to induce sales no longer works in this market place. It's time for a different approach in a new direction.

Interesting saga here.. I can understand where you're coming from, however I think you might be failing to see the bigger picture.

You say that if surfers can see all your content, why would they buy? True.. However without looking I'm sure 100% of your site is available as a zip file being given away by websites who aren't even your affiliates.

Affiliates have to compete with these sites as much as you do, and offering just a few pictures or a few galleries is pretty 1997.

Most site owners just make rules like "no pussy shots" or "no cum shots" or wherever you want to draw the line. Alternatively you could make a rule about only using content you designate as promoteable, and not allow affiliates to grab pictures from your members areas.. I've seen that before too.

But I'd be careful about how many rules you apply to your affiliates, because as you see from this thread, it's easy to just promote one of the other 25,000+ paysites instead.

You should have sent INDIVIDUAL emails to the webmasters you felt were not obeying your request. Often bulk emails to multiple webmasters get caught in spam filters. Often they get deleted by busy webmasters who don't want to spend hours a day reading all the bulk emails they get from all the sponsors they promote. You could have sent PERSONALIZED and INDIVIDUAL emails to those webmasters and there wouldn't have been as much to bash you about.

You have a decent argument about limiting the content you put out. It's your business and that's how you want to play it. Some people will disagree with you and they can just decide it's not worth promoting your sites. But listing the sites of those "naughty" affiliates in a bulk email was clearly done on purpose to make your point by calling out the kids who were being bad in class.

It was classic female passive aggressive behavior and you're not going to convince anyone here you didn't do it on purpose with malicious intent.

Alphasky: affiliates send you sales, many forums just steal your content. The latter is FAR worse as they post entire member sets or sometimes even entire site rips... compared to a hundred FHG size/grade pics on a site that links to you?

Like I said above, there is nothing wrong with innovation, but be very careful about introducing changes. If you piss off your affiliates, they'll just drop their links. You aren't just competing for sales in your niche, you're also competing for affiliates.

You can do whatever you want with your content, and your affiliate program, including not having an affiliate program.

But once you do, if you are going to call out affiliates for something, you need to take it up individually with each of them, not send out an email blast about it.

I'm a big advocate of less is more and the tease factor, so I get what you are saying there, and do not disagree with it. 3xTom could attest to the time that I photoshopped lingerie back on Raven's pussy way back in the beginning. But there is a fine line between proactively managing what gets handed out, and giving your affiliates enough to promote you with. Imho, your efforts would be best rewarded by using tease content only as ad tools, and talking to someone like Robbie about protecting your member's area content.

Affiliates have to compete with these sites as much as you do, and offering just a few pictures or a few galleries is pretty 1997. Most site owners just make rules like "no pussy shots" or "no cum shots" or wherever you want to draw the line. Alternatively you could make a rule about only using content you designate as promoteable, and not allow affiliates to grab pictures from your members areas.. I've seen that before too. But I'd be careful about how many rules you apply to your affiliates, because as you see from this thread, it's easy to just promote one of the other 25,000+ paysites instead.
