How many of you have opted into this Google ads shit and don't know it?
https://gfy.com/17332570-post14.html
I had to make a new thread for this because the other one started off as a possible computer infection but this is in fact not the case. For whatever reason, my Google and Yahoo search listings are going through doubleclick.net (googleads.g.doubleclick.net to be exact), this is sometimes sending me to a paid listing page instead of the the actual listing I clicked on. And if it isn't sending me to some ad-sponsored page it is still redirecting through Google's doubleclick website and my websites are not noticing this traffic as coming from a search engine. There is a plugin from Google to supposedly stop these cookies from reinstalling themselves (because Google says themselves that they will!) and it seemed to have worked at first but they have come back now. And here is a page to opt-out of many of the advertisers at once, but some did not successfully opt-out and who knows if the cookies will just reinstall themselves again.. The fact that I can no longer log traffic from Google / Yahoo is insanely ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that traffic I should be receiving from my listings are going to people paying for that keyword through doubleclick advertising!!! I can't believe this isn't a majorly known problem yet! |

for people using Chrome:
Instructions for Chrome The Google advertising cookie opt-out plugin is not yet supported in Google Chrome. In the meantime, you can use Chrome's built-in privacy controls to effectively opt out of the DoubleClick cookie permanently: From Chrome, click on the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" icon, and in the drop-down menu, select "Options" Select the "Under the Hood" tab Under "Privacy" click on "Content settings..." Select the "Cookies" tab Select "Block all third-party cookies without exception" This option will prevent all third-party cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie and other advertising cookies, from being sent back to their corresponding third-party websites. As a consequence, the DoubleClick cookie is never sent to Google, which effectively is the same as setting the opt-out cookie. |

You might have the virtumonde virus. If so then your servers may be hacked also through your FTP program. Open the source of your index pages and see if there is an iframe or some other code on your servers.

Bump, its not an infection as I've already said, if you read the thread and view the links I provided you might realize this shit is happening on YOUR computer.
Do a search for just about anything for example "dating sites" and hold the left mouse button down on some of the top listings, a simple hover over the links won't reveal the doubleclick address. |

Try using a different computer.
If still same problem, then likely your website has been hijacked with bogus links being inserted into the pages - check for hidden code / iframes, etc, as another poster suggested already... Important, note that viewing your website may not reveal anything unusual, since some website injections are only served to search engine spiders with the unaltered version served to direct type-ins. Point is, if nothing appears wrong with your webpages, don't assume all is ok - FTP in and download some of them and view the source of them using a html / text editor to make doubly-sure nothing is amiss. I just tested your search query - the result links work as expected, and redirect through the google.com domain - not doubleclick.net. Ron

Using a different computer wouldn't make a difference because this is happening on a per computer basis. Just as an infection would happen, but I've finally figured out it's not even an infection at all but instead some kind of sneaky advertising gimmick run by the search engines.

![]() ![]() To tell you the truth, I'm glad no one knows wtf I am talking about because that just means this advertising method hasn't taken control of a wide range of surfers (yet). I'm not sure how the fuck I got opted into this but it's definitely total bullshit and it's very effectively stealing traffic the top results for any search term people people want to purchase traffic from. Take a moment to understand what I made this thread for and realize what I'm trying to show you and you'd realize this has absolutely nothing to do with my computers or websites being infected with anything at all. I installed an opt-out plugin from google.com itself and this has went away for me, is that so hard to get? |

If people want throw their "you're infected dood" in then so be it. Meanwhile the people in charge (search engines) are selling our most valuable traffic to the highest bidder.I think people are forgetting where search engine traffic comes from, if Google wants to send the average surfer through ads first that is their choice, it's their website and the average surfer isn't going to have the slightest clue what is happening. Hell I am trying to explain this to a bunch of WEBMASTERS and they're arguing with me about it. Stupidity at it's best. |

I have spyware on my computer that injects Googles own products and Google provides its own plugin to opt-out of it. Thanks for the amazing enlightenment.

the only information I could find that describes your problem is directly virus related. do you have any links or anything that describes exactly what was going on? Any information at all? You shoving your fingers in your ears and screaming "I'm not infected! magical google cookies are causing my search engine redirection problems on other search engines" isn't helping anyone.

Jakez,
You have spyware, plain and simple. Google owns Doubleclick, yes, and they use it to gather information and inject ads based on the sites you visit. The reason you see Doubleclick URL's is because it is tracking what you visit to inject ads. And it is considered malware by many spyware removal programs. All you've downloaded and installed was a plug-in Google offers to permnamently disable it should you get re-infected somewhere down the line. Google does this so they don't have their asses handed to them for not providing a permnament solution to their spyware.
