I use cs-cart...this is an older version
http://backissues.gatefold.com/ about 2500 products without a hiccup, and pretty cheap with a lot of modules with it.

If you want to go with Wordpress then this one is really good. Has a whole interface with PayPal or a number of other processors. I have used it for a few clients and they love it.
http://themeforest.net/item/wpshop/22102 Kind of a pain to redo the theme, but its worth the $35.

i'd also recommend oscommerce, in part., a version with the best/important contribs already installed such as oscmax or creloaded.

Prestashop is free, and very very easy to install and use. I like it a lot.

For something quick and easy, Opencart is really nice.
Magento is the best at the moment, but for most people it's TOTAL OVERKILL. If you just have a few products and want something that's easy to skin...check out Opencart. If you want to buy a bunch of books, hire someone to skin your site and spend hours getting up to speed getting your site running with a powerful backend that has pretty much everything you need and then some...check out Magento. When we switched from OsCommerce 18 or so months ago...it hadn't been updated or actively maintained in over 18 months...with no sign of a new upgrade. Maybe they have at this point, but it's too late...Magento is run them over. |

The OsCommerce default theme is ugly and is a pain in the ass to mod and he doesn't want to spend another 200+ for a design. Opencarts default looks much better, lets see if its easier to play around with. Thanks for the help guys.

i'm integrating design onto OpenCart and its pretty straight forward.. admin is fairly easy too so far no complains.
osCommerce would not recommend to anyone and would not touch it personally. better look at Magento or Xcart for richer functionality

x-cart.com is nice, but you have to tweak it a lot and buy mods. Standard version sucks a bit.
