If you just have a few products and want something that's easy to skin...check out Opencart.

If you want to buy a bunch of books, hire someone to skin your site and spend hours getting up to speed getting your site running with a powerful backend that has pretty much everything you need and then some...check out Magento.

When we switched from OsCommerce 18 or so months ago...it hadn't been updated or actively maintained in over 18 months...with no sign of a new upgrade. Maybe they have at this point, but it's too late...Magento is run them over.
I installed OsCommerce it is a pain in the fucking ass! Going to try out OpenCart now. This is for a client on a shoe string budget, just a small gift store (helping a friend out here)

The OsCommerce default theme is ugly and is a pain in the ass to mod and he doesn't want to spend another 200+ for a design.

Opencarts default looks much better, lets see if its easier to play around with.

Thanks for the help guys.
