ANKARA, Turkey ? Turkey's Foreign Ministry says at least 2 people have been killed and more than 30 wounded in an Israeli raid on an aid ship in the Mediterranean.

The ministry condemned Monday's raid on the ship carrying pro-Palestinian activists, called it unacceptable and demanded an "urgent explanation" from Israel. It says Israel violated international laws and will suffer consequences.

The blockaid includes all vessels not just some vessels and the flotilla was aware of this. They were offered safe harbor by Israel for inspection but chose not to afford themselves of this.

some of the "passengers" were armed, and there are IDF videos of them stabbing the soldiers, so shots were fired, if it was about the killing, the IDF could have just sank the ships and not risk soldier injury!

Blockaids usually involve international waters and is in fact considered to be an act of war...but then again the Arabs have been waging war on Israel since day one. Of course the country/countries whose flags are being flown on the vessels that are blockaided can legally interpret it as being an act of war...but I doubt that they will declare war.

if the blockade is about "weapons of war" why do israel ban the import of fresh meat, tin cans etc, all raw materials for production and a ban on all exporting of goods? so there's massive unemployment and people can't afford to buy food and have to rely on aid handouts.

any israelis i've met have been very nice people, but what israel as a state do is totally unacceptable in a civilised world. and they can only act like this because of americas backing. its time america was more even handed in trying to sort out the mess there.

What are you talking about? the king said it best, Israel wasn't hostile. all Israel did is asked to "inspect" the ships for weapons and instead of obeying and docking in Israel, they simply continue and gave a fuck about the countries request. once the Israeli soldiers got on the ships the staff started beating on them. so the soldiers defended their lives, Israel wasn't hostile, and didn't try to stop "humanitarian help" so to say.

In ~30 years when most of the mideast oil has run out and the strategic appeal of Israel becomes geopolitically irrelevant enough that the US stops sending them $3 Billion dollars a year and not use it's UN vetos as much it could certainly happen. Turkey is actually forecast to become the regional power again in the next 50 years. We can't exactly know what happened there and what can be in that humanitarian convoy. In same way, American gave weapons to muslim Albanians in Kosovo trough similar kind of humanitarian help. So from my point of view, if Israel told them not to fuck around and gave them option to check cargo, blame is only on arrogant Turks that main goal is to establish Otoman empire again. (and they will in incoming decades).
