Here's my take on the shaving thing, and correct me if some of you don't feel this way...

When I contract a programmer to do work for me, sometimes the work may be for something exclusive to my own site, but other times (most of the time) the contract is for them to do the work, after which I own all the source code and rights to the work. This is so that if I decide to later on, I can license the program to someone else.

So... if I were having an affiliate program coded, I would have as many features put in as possible that I felt would help in the future should I decide to license it out. Some of these features would be things I wouldn't use myself, like a shave percentage, but I'd damn sure have it coded in since the big affiliate software has it as a feature as well. If I want to license out my software, I want to be able to compete on a level field.

Not saying that this is what multisexsite had planned, but unless you have complete intimate knowledge of a situation you might not get the whole gist of what's going on. To accuse multisexsite of shaving simply because he wanted that feature built in to the software he was buying may actually be wrong. I don't know multisexsite other than the fact that he uses our ******* program, so I can't claim to know what the real idea behind the thing was either.

If multisexsite didn't let Alky know that the software wasn't up to par with what he expected, then for the sake of getting out of this huge drama circle I think he should pay Alky $200 and call it a day. Don't burn the money. What good would that do? Pay the guy and chalk it up to a loss, then never work with him again and let other people know about your experience. Word of mouth (and posted ICQ logs violating client privacy priviledges) goes a long way.

pr0, you're not helping your friend here, you just killed his career as a programmer. It's not multisexsite who has to change his name, it's Alky. You think he's ever going to get programming work after this? Even if he was a good programmer, I can't imagine anyone would ever hire him to make another affiliate script after you come out and tell everyone about the shave feature. That's not something he should have shared with you. And if you think anyone will ever have a programmer make a PPS program WITHOUT some sort of shave option, you're kidding yourself.

i told pr0 about the shave feature when i made this thread. apart from that this thread isnt even about multisex shaving, its about him being dishonest and him having a shave feature just topped off what was being said.

I myself have paid good money for crap that didn't work worth shit, And maybe I should have demanded my money back.

I learned my lesson, and began to buy from those with a solid reputation. The gentleman who earlier said, you get what you pay for, echoes a truth, so often ignored.

My suggestion...Stick to Programs, and winning solutions from Gossamer Threads, Dot Matrix, JMB Soft, and G e r m e s i a to name a few.

My only regret was a package a couple of years ago (Traffic Trader Pro and TGP Pro from X3) It was big bucks, poor documentation, and a royal pain in the ass to get these two programs working together.

ROFL. You aren't the only one who has paid big bucks for things that do not do what it is suppose to. The problem here lies in the industry by itself, in this case the IT industry. I mean only in the IT industry does a programmer expect to be paid in full even though there are bugs. I know because I was once a developer and a damn hard core one even. But the problem here lies in the fact that since Microsoft has buggy software and they can release patches the rest of the software industry can do the same.

I am staying on the fence on this one though. I know how hard it is to develop a software and I also know they should be rewarded for the time. However, I have also seen a lot of fly by night companies who offer to make software and never deliver. Jesus Christ. I think the whole industry just needs to redevelop itself and put up a "GURANTEE" if you don't develop it correctly you lose your $$$$ and have a third party judge it directly so that things like this never happen.

Any suggestions anyone?

I will say, I don't know you (alky), and make/made no claim as to your abilities as a programmer.

My comments were intended to be very general, and without taking sides in the original topic.

I do agree with those who feel there should be more of a standard or universal guideline to reduce the number of disputes and/or a neutral third party to bring both sides back on the same page.

good luck to all

Alky, I do NOT know you nor do I know multisexsite and I will not jump on your case or your defense but by the same token I will not jump to multisexsite's defense.

The truth is the industry, the software industry is plauged by a lot of wanna be programmers. I mean I personally have gone through a few developers and also system administrators and to be honest most of them just cannot stand the pressure. Not saying you are, just that generally a lot of sub standard stuff going around that is all. I think it is just in general that is all. I wish you all the best in your business endearvous.
